Rostkovius eyebright is one of the plants of the family called norichnikovye, in Latin the name of this plant will sound as follows: Euphrasia rostkoviana Hayne (E. officinalis L., p. p et auct.mult.s str., E. officinalis L., var. pratensis (Tries.) Koch). As for the name of the eyebright family of rostkovius itself, in Latin it will be like this: Scrophulariaceae Juss.

Description of eyebright rostkovius

Eyebright, or eyebright officinalis is an annual herb, the height of which will fluctuate between ten and fifteen centimeters. Such a plant is a semi-parasite. The stem of the eyebright is erect; in the lower part, such a stem is most often branched. The stem of this plant is dressed with brownish hairs, and it will be colored either green or brownish or reddish tones. The inflorescence of this plant is at first compressed, and later it becomes elongated. The flowers of eyebright of Rostovius will be almost sessile, the corolla is rather large, at first its length is about nine to eleven millimeters, and at the end of flowering its length will be equal to eleven to fourteen millimeters. Such a rim is endowed with a two-lobed upper lip and notched lobes, which will also be bent back. The upper lip of the eyebright of the rostkovius will be three-lobed, and the lower lip will be endowed with a yellow spot and stripes of purple color. It is noteworthy that sometimes both lips of this plant can be white.

Blossoming of eyebright of rostkovius falls on the period from June to October. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in Belarus, the Dnieper region and the Carpathians in Ukraine, as well as in the following regions of the European part of Russia: Ladoga-Ilmensky, Volzhsko-Kamsky, Volzhsko-Don, Verkhne-Volzhsky and Baltic. For the growth of eyebright, Rostkovius prefers meadows, forest glades and deciduous forests. It is noteworthy that this plant is a very valuable honey plant.

Description of the healing properties of eyebright rostkovius

Eyebright Rostkovius is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the entire aerial part of this plant for medicinal purposes. The presence of such valuable medicinal properties should be explained by the content of iridoids and flavonoids in the composition of this plant, in turn, organic acids, carbohydrates, a related compound minnit, essential oil, higher aliphatic carbohydrates, alcohols, phenolcarboxylic acid, cinnamic and coffee, as well as the following higher fatty acids: linolenic, oleic, linoleic and stearic.

It should be noted that the essence of this plant has become quite widespread in homeopathy. Outwardly, such a healing agent is recommended to be used for compresses and washing for blepharitis, glaucoma, acute and chronic conjunctivitis, visual impairment, barley on the eyelid, inflammation of the lacrimal sacs and bronchitis. In addition, this plant is also used for the place: the crushed fresh aerial part of the eyebright of Rostkovius is used for rhinitis, dermatitis and eczema.

As for traditional medicine, here this plant is used in the form of an aqueous infusion for rhinitis and eye diseases. It is noteworthy that the effectiveness of such a healing agent has been confirmed experimentally. In addition, such a remedy is used for angina, colitis, bronchopneumonia, various respiratory infections, hypertension, sclerosis, scrofula, hysteria, headache, anorexia, bronchial asthma, warts, dermatoses, memory impairments and as an astringent.
