Irga oval is one of the plants of the family called Rosaceae, in Latin the name of this plant will sound like this: Amelanchier ovalis. As for the name of the oval irgi family itself, then in Latin it will be like this: Rosaceae Juss.

Description of irgi oval

Irga oval is a shrub whose height will fluctuate between half a meter and three and a half meters. The leaves of this plant are entire, only a few can be serrated near the top, such leaves are leathery and oval in shape. On both sides, the leaves of the oval irgi will be rounded, from above they are naked, and from below they are covered with dense felt, which also covers the shoots. The flowers are located in four to six flower racemes, in the upper flowers, the pedicels are approximately five to ten millimeters, while in the lower ones their length will be equal to twenty millimeters. Felt pubescence is quite dense and will last for a long time. The petals are inversely oval in shape, their length is equal to eight to ten millimeters, and the width is four millimeters, on the outside such petals will be hairy.

In natural conditions, the oval irga is found on the territory of the Crimea and the Caucasus. For growth, the plant prefers rocks, dry calcareous slopes, shrubs, forest edges and bright places up to an altitude of 1900 meters above sea level. As for the general distribution, this plant can be found in Armenian Kurdistan, Asia Minor and the Balkans.

Description of the medicinal properties of irgi oval

Irga oval is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the bark, leaves and fruits of this plant for medicinal purposes.

The presence of such valuable healing properties is explained by the content of tannins, phenolcarboxylic acid and its isochlorogenic acid derivative in the plant. The fruits of this plant contain catechins, flavonoids, tannins, carotene, vitamin C and P, as well as the following carbohydrates: galactose, glucose, polysaccharide, arabinose, rhamnose and xylose. In addition, the plant contains cobalt, lead, copper, beta-sitosterol, organic acids, phenolcarboxylic and other carboxylic acids, as well as their derivatives.

Means prepared on the basis of this plant are recommended for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis, gastrointestinal and cardiovascular diseases. The plant is a good multivitamin remedy, which is used for the prevention and treatment of hypo- and avitaminosis C, A and P. The juice of fresh fruits of the oval irgi is endowed with astringent properties; in folk medicine, such juice is used for rinsing and for inflammation of the mouth and throat. Decoctions prepared on the basis of the bark and leaves of this plant should be used as an enveloping and astringent agent for various gastrointestinal diseases, as well as in the form of lotions to heal purulent wounds.

For diarrhea, enterocolitis and colitis, it is recommended to use the following remedy based on irgi oval: to prepare such a remedy, you will need to take two tablespoons of crushed dry leaves per three hundred milliliters of water. The resulting product should be boiled for five minutes, and then left to infuse for one hour, after which this mixture is filtered very carefully. Such a remedy is taken on the basis of an oval irgi one third of a glass three to four times a day.

For diarrhea, gastritis, colitis and enterocolitis, the following remedy is used: ten grams of crushed bark of this plant is taken in a glass of water. The resulting mixture should be boiled for ten to twelve minutes in a water bath, then infused for an hour and filtered. Such a remedy should be taken in half a glass or one third of a glass three to four times a day.
