Features of growing lychnis

It is believed that this plant is able to develop most favorably in open sunny areas. For lychnis, moist and sandy soils are considered more optimal. It is noteworthy that for the winter period of time, the plant does not need shelter, since lichenis is particularly resistant to cold temperatures.

Most often, this plant is found in group plantings, and besides this, lychnis is also recommended for decorating borders. If you are going to grow a plant in rocky gardens, then you should give preference to the undersized alpine lichnis. Lychnis can also look great in bouquets.

The plant will need moderate watering, which, however, should also be regular. As already mentioned, this plant is frost-resistant. Top dressing with the help of mineral fertilizers responds positively to the development of this plant. It should be noted that if a plant is grown for more than five years in the same place, then its flowers will become smaller in size, and sometimes the plant stops blooming altogether. Experts recommend replanting the plant every three to four years.

Reproduction of this plant can occur not only with the help of seeds, but also by dividing the mother bush. In order to grow this plant through seed reproduction, you will need to sow lichnis in open ground in the autumn period.

As for diseases and pests, the plant is sometimes capable of being affected by aphids and leafworms. In addition, the plant sometimes also gets sick with root rot, rust and leaf spot.
