Bryozoan sometimes also known as sagina. This crop is a perennial ground cover plant. In total, there are about fifty different varieties in the genus, but only a few species have become widespread in culture: bryozoan bryozoan and styloid bryozoan. The decorativeness of this plant lies in the presence of a green cover, on which small white flowers are scattered. It is worth noting that the flowering of this plant is quite abundant, and it will last throughout the entire summer period. The flowers are endowed with a surprisingly delicate and pleasant aroma.
Description of the features of care and cultivation of bryozoans
It should be noted that for the favorable development of this plant, it is recommended to choose sunny places or a light shade. Most favorably these plants will develop on well-drained, moderately moist and loose soils. The reaction of such soil should be slightly acidic, that is, the soil should be loamy. Regular but moderate watering is very important for this plant. It should be noted that excessive watering can have an extremely negative effect on the development of this plant. It is noteworthy that feeding the bryozoan is not required, this plant is capable of developing well without additional feeding. Nevertheless, if you want your plant to be able to develop much better, you will need to apply complex mineral fertilizers about once or twice a month throughout the summer. It is not recommended to cover the planting time for the winter period, but if the winter turns out to be snowless, then this plant may freeze out. In the event that the place for planting the bryozoan was incorrectly selected, then this plant can also get wet.
Breeding bryozoans
Reproduction of this plant can occur both by dividing the bush, and by using seeds. Seeds are recommended to be sown in the month of April in special containers. This will require a lightweight substrate. Seeds should be spread over the surface of a slightly damp substrate, and it is recommended to cover such plantings with a film. When the seedlings are already growing up, they should be transplanted and dived into separate containers. Seedlings are to be planted in open ground already in the month of May, while the distance between them should be about ten centimeters. The first time of planting should be watered daily, when the seedlings have already taken root, watering should be very significantly reduced. Also, the first time to grow a plant, regular feeding is required. Among other things, it should be noted that bryozoan is able to reproduce quite well also through self-seeding.
As for the division of the bush, these measures should be taken in the spring time, around the month of April, or after the end of the flowering period. In this case, it is recommended to plant individual parts of the bryozoan directly in a permanent place. After that, the planting site must be watered abundantly.
As for possible diseases and pests, it should be noted that the plant is practically not susceptible to such unpleasant phenomena. However, if we talk about the possible difficulties of growing, then quite often the plant can suffer from stagnant water in the event that watering was provided in the wrong mode.
Bryozoan will be an excellent component of rock gardens: this plant will look especially attractive between stones. In addition, very often this plant is used as a substitute for moss in the design of various flower and garden compositions. Also bryozoan will go well with thyme and lobelia.
