Dubrovnik is a perennial plant. It is noteworthy that there are more than three hundred different varieties of this plant in the genus.

Description of Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is quite widespread and highly respected among gardeners. The blooming of the Dubrovnik will last throughout the summer period. The decorativeness of this plant is explained not only by their amazingly beautiful flowers, but also by the leaves. Low-growing species of Dubrovnik are used in the design of alpine slides. However, some species of this plant can also be grown in pots. It is noteworthy that there are also tall species that will look extremely advantageous in single plantings. However, most often the height of the Dubrovnik will not exceed forty centimeters. The flowers of the plant are not endowed with any smell. Most often, gardeners choose such a species as ordinary Dubrovnik: such a wide distribution of this plant is explained by the presence of very valuable healing properties in this species. In addition, Dubrovnik is also an excellent honey plant.

Care and cultivation of Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik should be planted exclusively in sunny areas. It will be preferable to choose light and well-drained soils for the growth of this plant. However, some species of Dubrovnik are able to develop normally even on poor soils. Nevertheless, in order for the plant to develop favorably and grow normally, it will be necessary to add various organic fertilizers to the soil even during planting. The introduction of such fertilizers will also contribute to the formation of abundant flowering of this plant. In the spring period, complex mineral fertilizers should be applied. Watering should be provided only occasionally, the Dubrovnik should be watered only during planting, and also on especially hot and dry days. However, those plants that are grown in pots need regular watering.

In the spring, you will need to trim both dry and damaged branches. The plant tolerates pruning quite well: for this reason, regular haircuts will be required, which will lead to the fact that branching will be stimulated throughout the summer.

For the winter period of time, the Dubrovnik may not be covered, since this plant will perfectly tolerate even very cold winters. However, sometimes the plant may freeze out. For this reason, experts recommend providing an easy shelter for the winter for the Dubrovnik.

Reproduction of Dubrovnik

Reproduction of Dubrovnik can take place by means of cuttings. Such reproduction should be performed in the summer. You will need to take side shoots for cuttings. The length of the cuttings should be about ten to fifteen centimeters. The cuttings will need to be rooted in a loose substrate, with this it is necessary to provide greenhouse conditions. After the plants have rooted, they should each be transplanted into a separate pot. It is important to remember that only one stalk can be in one pot. These young potted plants should be kept outdoors until frost occurs. After frost, the plants should be moved indoors: in such indoor conditions, the plants will be kept until the onset of the spring period. Already next spring, the plants are transferred to open ground: this can be done only when the threat of frost has completely passed. It is noteworthy that Dubrovnik can also reproduce by means of seeds.

As for diseases and pests, Dubrovnik is quite resistant and rarely suffers from both pests and various diseases. However, fungal infections of Dubrovnik can sometimes occur.
