Iodine improves the condition of plants, disinfects the soil, and helps fight diseases. Fertilizing and protection with iodine is carried out in compliance with strict proportions and rules. I offer the best recipes for vegetables and indoor crops
Why iodine
Iodine is an important element in plant life, it is required for normal development and fruiting, strengthens the immune system, disinfects the soil, and helps to stop the progression of many diseases. Deficiency of this element leads to rotting of the ovaries, delayed fruiting, development.
Experienced gardeners have long used iodine to improve vegetation, protect against fungal and bacterial problems.
Application rules
Pharmaceutical iodine has a concentration dangerous for plants, it can burn the leaves. It brings benefits only in a highly diluted form. Typical proportions are about 1-2 drops per 2 liters of water. Who does not know how to use iodine for plants, I will list the basic rules.
1. Cannot be used after the beginning of fruiting and during dormancy.
2. Exceeding the concentration leads to the destruction of the beneficial microflora of the soil, leaves burns on the leaves.
3. Before processing the soil, a preliminary watering of the land is done.
4. For efficiency, ash is added (for 10 liters of 1 liter of ash infusion).
5. When working the soil, it is unacceptable to hit the stem.
6. The processing of the green mass is done with a fine sprinkler. In the form of "fog" the element is absorbed by 70-90%.
Iodine for seedlings
In indoor conditions, it is difficult to create conditions for the full development of seedlings. During this period, the condition of the plants can be improved by iodine feeding. Iodine activates biological processes in cells, promotes the assimilation of nitrogen and other nutrients, as a result, a full-fledged, strong seedling is formed.
For seedlings, iodine is used 4 times.
1. Seeds are soaked for 5-6 hours in iodine solution (1 drop + 1 liter of water). They are not washed before sowing.
2. The moistened substrate is poured with a solution of 10 l + 3 drops. This event disinfects the soil, improves survival.
3. 1-2 weeks before disembarking at a permanent place, iodine feeding (1 drop + 3 l) is carried out on the ground.
4. 2-3 weeks after planting, each bush is spilled with a solution (3 drops + 10 liters), 1 liter per plant.
Top dressing with iodine helps prevent the seedlings from pulling out, prevent the appearance of yellowness, exclude the occurrence of putrefactive phenomena, and contribute to the full development of seedlings.
Iodine for tomatoes
Iodine-milk spraying helps from late blight. The mixture is prepared in a 10-liter container from 1 liter of whey, 10 drops. iodine and water. After thorough mixing, the solution is poured into the sprayer. It is used at intervals of 10-15 days.
Such foliar feeding is an excellent prevention of infections, powdery mildew, and putrefactive processes. The frequency of application is once every 2 weeks. To stop disease outbreaks, hydrogen peroxide (1 tsp) is added to the solution, spraying every 3-4 days.
There is an effective recipe for phytophthora: 8 liters of water + 2 liters of ash infusion (2 handfuls per 2 liters of water) + 10 g of boric acid + 10 ml of iodine are poured into a bucket. The working solution for tops / leaves is made by diluting with water 1:10, at the root without dilution.
Iodine for cucumbers
Abundant spraying of cucumber tops and soil with a milk-iodine solution prevents powdery mildew. Prepared from 9 liters of water, 1 liter of milk, 10 drops of iodine. Frequency of work - weekly.
Iodine and strawberries
To strengthen immunity, activate the growth of planted bushes or after wintering, it is recommended to do iodine watering after the snow melts (10 drops + 10 liters). Feeding is given three times with an interval of 10 days. This procedure blocks the development of gray mold.
Iodine and indoor flowers
Feeding with iodine will help to improve the quality of flowering, to extend the period of budding. One drop is added to the complex fertilizer (3 liters). With weak growth, yellowness, to strengthen the immune system, make an independent solution (2-3 drops + 1 liter of water). Introduced at the root of 2-3 p. with a frequency of 10 days. Pour a weakened indoor rose with diluted Humate with the addition of 1 drop of iodine.
