And so that he does not cease to please, it is important to try to protect juicy parsley from various ailments that lie in wait for it. Parsley rust
At the very beginning of summer, rust-like yellowish-brownish pads appear on the leaves of parsley with rust. This ill-fated disease can easily ruin the entire crop.
Powdery mildew on parsley
This ubiquitous ailment manifests itself on the petioles, leaves, inflorescences and stems in the form of an unpleasant whitish coating. And a little later, the plaque is painted in dark gray tones. Infected parsley leaves become tough and crumble very easily at the slightest touch.
Peronosporosis on greenery
The second name of this scourge is downy mildew. This disease manifests itself in both protected and open ground. As a rule, peronosporosis attacks exclusively parsley leaves - at the very beginning of its development, the leaves are covered with tiny whitish specks of irregular shape. And after some time, these spots begin to grow and eventually turn yellow.
Most often, peronosporosis affects parsley growing in greenhouses, and this occurs mainly in the autumn-winter period.
White spot of parsley leaves
This disease in science is called septoria. It manifests itself on both sides of the leaves in the form of characteristic specks, and with the same force this disease affects both adult plants and tiny seedlings. You can find specks on a wide variety of parts of parsley - on stalks, petioles or on leaves.
In the second half of summer, numerous irregular specks begin to form on the lower leaves, initially colored in brownish tones, and after a while change color to off-white color with pronounced dark brown edges. After some time, mushroom pycnidia (tiny black dots) form under the epidermis in the center of the spots. From the lower leaves, the white spot is gradually moving to the upper ones. As for the petioles with stalks, the spots on them are usually slightly recessed, elongated and brown. Sometimes the harmful attack also affects the seeds.
Fomoz
Phomosis, also called dry brown rot, usually manifests itself in two forms: in the form of loss of testes (when the growing parsley dies off) or in the form of dry rot of root crops (this form is already found in storage facilities).
On the testes, phomosis manifests itself as follows: on the stems, usually closer to their bases, as well as in the places of branching of leaf petioles and twigs, dark stripes and elongated specks differing in a lilac shade are first formed. Often, the formation of such spots is accompanied by the accompanying release of a rather sticky mass. After a while, the infected areas dry out, turn gray and are abundantly covered with fungal pycnidia. Similar signs of infection can be seen in the bases of the umbrellas on the pedicels, as well as near the bases of the inflorescences. The organs attacked by the disease gradually die off.
Black rot on greenery
This ailment, also known as Alternaria, initially manifests itself on seedlings as a black leg. First, the blackening of the root necks occurs, and after a while the leaves turn yellow, fade and dry out. When humid weather is established, especially in the autumn, the infected leaves begin to rot, and a moldy greenish-brown conidial plaque forms on them.
