Otthelium parietal is found in water bodies of North America and Australia with Southeast Asia. This plant perfectly adapts to aquarium conditions, but it should be handled with great care, as it is extremely fragile and delicate. In the very center of the aquariums, the splendid ottelia altiform looks the most impressive. And growing it will not be difficult for a whole year

Getting to know the plant

Otthelium is an aquatic plant, reaching a height of seventy centimeters and endowed with bright green large rounded leaves, comfortably located under the water surface on rather long petioles. From the side it seems as if the leaves are stretching to the water surface. And the edges of the ovate leaf blades of this beauty are slightly wrapped.

Under favorable conditions, the graceful ottelia chastukhovidny pleases with constant flowering. Its whimsical flowers are endowed with yellow cores and white petals. They regularly self-pollinate, and a couple of weeks later, seed-filled capsules ripen. After a while, the capsules burst, and numerous seeds sink to the bottom.

How to grow

Because of its impressive size, it should be grown in rather large vessels for the heifer. Most often it is planted in the center of aquariums. This is due to the fact that its leaves will need a solid area under the water surface, while cuttings from the otteli of the chastiform latitude do not require open spaces. This beauty grows equally well throughout all seasons of the year.

In tropical aquariums with water heated to 24 - 30 degrees, the othelial plant feels most comfortable. It will grow well in moderately warm aquariums with a water temperature of about 20 degrees. Only in the second case, the growth rate of the otheliya altoiformes will slow down, and it is unlikely to please its owners with flowering.

As for the aquatic environment, the water for growing this beauty should be selected soft, with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction. In hard water, the fragile and incredibly delicate leaves of the othelium are quite quickly beginning to disintegrate. In old and turbid water, about the same thing happens, so a regular water change is a necessary measure for all owners of this aquatic inhabitant.

Intended for the cultivation of a luxurious helium, the altogether-like soil should contain enough of all kinds of nutrients, and also be well silted. It should be placed in the aquarium with a layer of five to seven centimeters. When using completely new soil, it is recommended to put a mixture formed by peat and clay under the roots of an aquatic plant. In the absence of peat, you can simply limit yourself to a small lump of clay. As a substrate, it is better to give preference to small pebbles or coarse river sand - although the root system of the water beauty is quite well developed, but its roots are extremely brittle and fragile.

The lighting is desirable as bright as possible, since the large leaves of the ottelia are very decently shaded by the aquariums, and the plants under the leaves may lack light. For the organization of artificial lighting, the choice should be stopped only on fluorescent lamps. The use of phytolamps is also permissible. Regarding the power of such devices, it is worth noting that it should be approximately 0.5 W / l. If undersized aquatic plants coexist with the otterus, it is recommended to place the aquarium near the window or equip it with side lighting. And they try to withstand the duration of daylight hours about twelve hours or more.

Reproduction of the otheliya chastiform is a rather difficult process. This feature makes it a valuable species for experienced professionals and not the most popular aquatic inhabitant among novice aquarists. In absolutely any aquariums, the delicate ottelia is able to reproduce exclusively by seeds. To avoid their loss, ten days after the water beauty blooms, capron covers are put on the seed boxes - then it will be much easier to extract the ripening seeds from them.

In general, in the care of the calf, the chalice is very unpretentious and does not require additional fertilizing with minerals.
