Cissus

Cissus is a plant closely related to the grape culture. The people even consider it a room grape. He has about three hundred species or even more. In the wild, similar plants grow in the tropics. Such a flower got its name from the Greek language, in translation it means ivy

Cissus is often kept at home. It sprouts remarkably and does not require any special care. All species of this plant are vines. They are very similar to wild grapes in that they can be hooked onto special tendrils. This is probably the only factor that makes a plant different from ivy. Ivy is hooked onto a support from the root system.

This flower is very fond of warmth, and the suitable temperature for it in summer and in spring is twenty-five degrees Celsius. In winter, cissus must be kept in the same way as most indoor plants, at a temperature of eighteen degrees. Each cissus is susceptible to low temperatures in its own way. There are species that, without consequences and harm, will suffer drops of up to minus five degrees. The most important thing is that the plant does not fall under a draft, because in such a situation it can lose foliage.

Tropical lands are considered the homeland of this plant, therefore it needs bright light. To do this, the culture must be placed on a windowsill or next to a window on the south side, although direct sunlight is very dangerous for it. For this reason, if in the summer the grower decides to take the cissus outside for comfortable maintenance, it must be placed where direct rays cannot get. Any flower or plant that is located where good lighting is constantly present will always look fresh and delight with its beautiful healthy leaves. But in the event that the plant is constantly in the shade, then it will not be able to please and amaze at all.

The most important thing in caring for cissus is to remember to water it. This plant has a lot of leaves, and in summer it can evaporate a lot of moisture. It is for this reason that he needs frequent watering with a large volume of water. Also, an indoor flower needs frequent spraying, but you should not overdo it with this because it can be harmed by such a process, especially in the winter season.

With the onset of autumn, the plant should be watered only when absolutely necessary. Watering needs to be carried out once for three to four days, but with all this, cissus needs to be sprayed twice a day, because in winter the air in the rooms and premises is dry. At the arrival of summer, the plant needs water, but stagnation should not be allowed, the soil in the container should be moderately moist.

Watering for this plant should be done with room temperature water in the room. In the summer season, the plant is constantly fertilized, or rather, such procedures are carried out once every fourteen to twenty days. In order to introduce nutrients into the soil, you can use absolutely any fertilizer that is suitable for indoor plants with no flowering phase. Such a preparation must contain a sufficient amount of minerals and vitamins. In the winter season, the plant should not be fertilized because the flower is in a calm phase at this time.

For a plant to grow well, it needs an annual transplant. For this, you can use a variety of soil. Soil with humus and sod is perfect for these purposes. You can also use a mixture containing sand and peat.

This plant can multiply by cuttings, seeds and by dividing bushes. In winter, this flower is propagated by cuttings, for this you need three to four pieces, which should be placed in a small container, and allowed to germinate at a temperature of twenty-two degrees of heat. Further, when the cuttings germinate and get stronger, they can be transplanted into individual small containers.

Plants are divided exclusively in the autumn period of the year, when the plant is transplanted. Cissus seeds propagate in the wild. But in home cultivation, the seeds are planted in separate pots. Then, when the sprouts get stronger, they are seated separately in small containers. In an attentive owner and a good grower, this plant has a spectacular and decorative appearance, despite the fact that cissus does not bloom at all. The flower amazes with its beautiful leaves and extraordinary appearance.

It does not require careful and laborious maintenance. For the correct cultivation of a culture, you just need to follow a few rules that are described above and do not forget about it.
