Few people are not attracted to flowers such as gladioli. They have a refined and sophisticated appearance, playing with a variety of colors and shades. Many gardeners always plant gladioli on their plots. Flowering of these plants begins in July. Gladioli continue to delight with their appearance throughout the summer season

Unfortunately, not all gardeners can achieve good results in the form of growing plants, especially flowers such as gladioli. This is due to the fact that these flowers are very capricious and demanding. They need to allocate a separate area that will always be well lit by the sun. Also, gladioli need nutritious and good soil, and the watering procedure must always be done in a timely manner. It seems that everything is not so complicated and, in principle, understandable, but is it possible to plant gladioli in problem soil conditions?

First of all, you should think about what place gladioli will occupy in the garden. Undoubtedly, this should be the area where the maximum sun rays fall. It is the sun that serves as the main component for shaping the color and tone of these beautiful plants. In the event that there is a deficit in sunny color, gladioli will grow pale and dull. In addition, they stretch in length and lose their shape. The lack of sun can be understood by their natural pale pink color. The composition of the soil is no less affected by the bloom of gladioli and their development. The acidity of the earth plays the main role here. High acidity values indicate the need to fertilize the soil where gladioli grow with quicklime.

A little more effort and effort will have to be put on the loam. Here it is important to create a certain porosity, lightness and airiness of the soil. Despite the fact that many flowers grow well on heavy soil (this also applies to gladioli), the quality and development of plants in this case has rather low rates. In such a situation, most likely, gladioli will begin to get sick often, since the soil will constantly swim. In addition, the flowers themselves can begin to rot or dry out, and sometimes acquire a yellowish unnatural tint.

Loam can be covered with a soil crust. In order to avoid such a situation, you need to start with preparing the soil before planting gladioli. In this process, one third of natural compost is added to the ground, which is made from plant residues and sand brought from the river banks. Then you need to dig up the earth and level it with a rake. The result should be a homogeneous composition.

Using oat straw is also a great option. If there is a possibility of its application, it is a sin not to use it. Such a procedure will prove to be very beneficial for the soil. In one season, the straw will trample, and organic matter will enter the soil, changing the structure and composition of the earth.

In the case of sandy loam, manure and peat are well suited. However, here it is important to remember that it is better to use manure from the age of two years, which has already been overcooked. Young manure is not so good due to the pungency, which negatively affects the plants. The surplus of trace elements in untreated manure simply burns out without getting into the soil. But in the case of peat, any type of it is suitable.

All of the above soils are light and soft. Therefore, they need to carry out a procedure such as mulching. In the upper part of the soil, you can place grass from haymaking, which dries very quickly in summer. In addition, with frequent watering, it will rot very quickly and help retain water, saving the land from premature drought. Thanks to a similar process, in the fall season, you will not need to add other fertilizers, and next spring you will only need to dig up the soil. As additives for fertilizers, the simplest wood ash, which contains a lot of mineral additives, is suitable.

The technology of growing gladioli itself is absolutely simple. Its meaning is to plant proven flower bulbs in the soil in April. The depth of the pits for each flower is about ten centimeters. The distance between flowers should be at least thirty centimeters. Before planting, the seedlings must be impregnated with a solution of potassium permanganate. But it is important that it is weak and has a pale pink tint.

When the flowering period ends, the tubers should (this will be the best solution!) Dug out only after a couple of months. The tubers are dried in the sun and then stored in a cool and dark place.

That's all the little "gladiolus" secrets. I would very much like your gladioli to always delight you with the variety of their colors and shades!
