And in this issue we will tell you how to grow the next amusing pair of plants in indoor conditions - a coffee tree and ginseng or the miraculous ginseng root

Growing a coffee tree at home

They say that no other coffee will be as aromatic as made from beans grown on their own, and in normal room conditions. Of course, it will take a long time to wait for the harvest. But the wait is worth it.

We suggest growing a coffee tree from its own seeds. You can buy ripe dark red fruits of the coffee tree (not from packs of coffee in the store!), Unprocessed, directly from the tree in gardening stores, or you can prescribe seeds in online stores for gardeners.

Seeds for sowing should be prepared as follows. The fruit should be torn with a needle and tweezers, remove its shell. Under it you will see green leaves rolled into a ball. There can be two or three such grains-lumps inside the coffee fruit. The fruit must be torn apart, so that the seeds, when germinating, quickly reveal their leaves, consisting of seven lobes. Otherwise, they will simply rot in the ground, without having time to open up.

The soil for planting will require loose, soddy, mixed with sand and peat (in equal parts), it would still be nice to add humus to it. Or buy greenhouse and greenhouse soil from a gardening store. For now, you need a small pot, or it can be a plastic box. In a box with a diameter of 120 mm and a depth of 50-60, you can plant up to 20 grains, which then need to be dived.

They settled our seeds, poured them with warm water, covered them with glass. The room should have a temperature suitable for germination - 20 degrees C. The sprouts on the surface of the home garden will not appear immediately. They may appear generally only in the third month. But usually they sprout at the same time and all planted by you. When the third full-fledged leaves appear on the sprouts, the seedlings need to be planted in separate containers, which also need to be covered with glass (glass glass, jar) so that inside there is still a humid warm climate in which coffee trees usually grow.

Acidify water for watering. To do this, 20 ml of oxalic acid is diluted in three liters of ordinary water, it is settled for 24 hours and the plant can be watered. Seedlings from individual pots are transplanted in the spring, in its first two months. That is, you need to transplant the coffee plants each time into even larger containers. Coffee is very fond of transplanting. And if they are done often, then it will bloom profusely and bear fruit well.

Transplanting is required when the root system of the tree has filled the entire space of the pot. The next one is taken with a diameter 5 cm larger than the previous one. Another pot is also bought 5 cm larger in diameter, and so on.

In order for the tree to grow a crown, it needs nitrogen as a top dressing. It is better to fertilize it with ordinary liquid manure. When it is actively growing, it needs to be fed every 10 days. When the tree stops its development (usually this is the cold period of the year), then it needs to be “fed” once every 20 days and watered less.

The ripe fruit of the coffee tree must be harvested and then peeled before roasting. Then you grind them and make an invigorating coffee out of them, as a reward for your efforts and worthy care of the plant.

Planting ginseng at home?

Let's not talk about the most useful properties of this amazing plant, about its healing and great power. But at the same time, in indoor conditions, it will develop much earlier and can be useful to its owner than growing in nature.

The main thing is that the plant needs non-humid air in the room (no more than 30 percent). But few people can provide such dry air with ginseng, so sawdust (preferably conifers) is poured into a pot with it to maintain a normal moisture level for the plant.

Ginseng is not placed on the windowsill, under the rays of the sun. He loves shade. And you don't need to fertilize it too much. Otherwise, with abundant feeding, do not be surprised that he suddenly begins to wither.

Ginseng should be propagated by seeds, which are planted in holes or grooves in a container at a depth of five to six cm. But before sowing the seeds, they should be sprinkled with sand, pour some water on top of it so that it is moist and refrigerated for a month.

The soil for planting a plant should be made from the following parts: 10 percent of sand + 30 percent of soil + 30 percent of peat + the same percent of leaf humus. Water the planted seeds in the ground and the plant itself should be in the same way as you water any indoor ones. From time to time, the soil needs to be loosened in a pot to a depth of a couple of cm.

For the cold season, it would be good to take ginseng out to the balcony, covering it from rain or snow. Bring it back in the spring. About four years after its germination, the ginseng root will be suitable for the preparation of medicinal drugs.
