Indoor begonia

Indoor begonia is one of the most beloved flowers among experienced flower growers, since this plant has indescribable beauty and is unpretentious in terms of care. Indoor begonia will impress almost no one. In general, more than eight hundred species can be observed in begonias, differing in their properties and characteristics. Domestic begonias have moved to our country from Africa, Madagascar and some other countries. There begonia can reach a height of five to three hundred centimeters

A huge number of species, hybrids and varieties of begonias amazes with their rich diversity. Those who are engaged in floriculture seriously know that in addition to the versatility of varieties and species, the growing conditions for begonias are also interesting and different. It is possible to grow begonias both indoors and on street beds. For home cultivation, the most suitable variety is indoor begonia.

Some types of begonias

Coral begonia is a large-sized flower with attractive leaves ten to fifteen centimeters tall. They usually also have miniature white specks. The color of the flowers of such a room begonia is usually represented by bright pink shades.

The bright red begonia is also a big plant, with smooth egg-shaped leaves and an attractive sheen. Inflorescences have a bright scarlet shade and paniculate shape. The ever-flowering indoor begonia is a small flower with light green rounded leaves that are five to six centimeters long. Flowers can be white, red and pink.

Indoor begonia and caring for it

Caring for room begonia is not very difficult. The flower is not very moody, unlike many other indoor plants. Nevertheless, the care and attention of begonias are still needed. Begonia is very fond of good lighting, although it is not necessary to ensure that the plant is exposed to direct rays of the sun, which can provoke the formation of burns on the leaves of the flower. You need to place the flower next to the window, or, if this is not possible, shade the begonia. In summer, the plant feels comfortable at a temperature of twenty-two to twenty-five degrees. In winter, fifteen to eighteen degrees will be optimal.

Correct and timely watering is very important for room begonias. The flower does not tolerate either severe drought or excessive waterlogging. Because of this, in the spring and summer period of the year, begonia under conditions of home cultivation must be watered a little more often, but at the same time, make sure that stagnant water does not form. It is not difficult to determine the timing of watering. As soon as the layer of earth has dried up by one or two centimeters, you can safely start watering. However, before the procedure, you need to defend the water for a short time.

Air humidity is another important factor for the comfortable growing of home begonias. In the wild, the flower is more common in tropical and subtropical climates. Therefore, he likes high humidity in the air. For many other household crops, the air is humidified by spraying the leaves. But for begonias, this method is a contraindication. In case of spraying, the leaves of the flower will be covered with unnatural spots. But flower growers have found a way out of the situation - a container with a plant grown in it is placed on wet peat, moss or a tray with water.

It is also worth paying attention to the feeding procedures. Such manipulations need to be done once or twice a month. Nitrogen agents are used only for decorative deciduous varieties, since such a substance well supports the active growth of leaves, but flowering in this case will be somewhat slower. For decorative flowering varieties, it is better to select phosphorus-based fertilizers. Indoor begonia also loves well-ventilated rooms and fresh air. But at the same time, it is necessary to create conditions for growing a flower under which the plant can be protected from drafts that kill begonia.
