When snowdrops bloom in the forests, many important things are waiting for the gardener. The quality and quantity of the crop largely depends on how correctly and in a timely manner they are carried out. We are talking about gardening classes in April

Every experienced gardener knows that with the arrival of April, you need to do a lot of useful and important things in the garden. Winter holidays are a thing of the past - months ahead filled with pleasant and exciting chores in the garden. So, what is important for the gardener to have time for the month of snowdrops and drops? Here are some helpful tips:

1. Preparing the soil and planting vegetables

* In April, dry soil is loosened with the simultaneous introduction of complex mineral fertilizers and humus.

* They take care of strawberries: cut off dried leaves, introduce fertilizers into the soil. After that, the strawberries are covered with foil.

* Early greens, radishes and carrots are sown on the compost heap. Previously, last year's pile is watered with hot water and sprinkled with a layer of soil (7-8 cm). Then the crops are covered with a film, not forgetting to remove it after the shoots appear. It is worth regularly watering the crops so that the seeds do not dry out.

* Seedlings of tomato and pepper prefer moderate watering and a lot of light, as well as spraying with compounds that protect from pests.

* In April, potato tubers are prepared for planting: in central Russia, tubers are sometimes soaked in warm water before planting for their early germination and disinfection. Dissolve potassium permanganate in water - the solution should be bright pink. The tubers remain in it for about 20 minutes, then they are washed, dried and laid out in a bright and cool room. By the end of April, lay the tubers in a cardboard box in layers, shifting with a newspaper, and leave in a warm room until strong sprouts appear.

* Parsley and dill, cabbage are sown. This is the time for planting carrots, onions, salads, dill, spinach and peas, which are then covered with plastic wrap.

* You can sow seeds of cucumbers, zucchini, squash, pumpkin and early tomatoes on seedlings. It is better to sow zucchini by the end of the month, and tomatoes at the beginning.

* The emerging seedlings (peppers, eggplant and tomatoes) must be hardened, taken out into the street, making sure that direct sunlight does not fall on it, and then brought back into the room.

2. Caring for trees and shrubs

* With the arrival of April, spring pruning of trees and bushes (black currant, gooseberry, honeysuckle) is carried out, during which blackened and old branches are removed. This can be done twice a year - in spring and autumn.
