One good apple tree can provide a person with a harvest for 4-5 months. What can we say about a well-groomed apple orchard. It is a great success to acquire a country house with a personal plot provided with such wealth. But if this does not happen, it is quite possible to grow your own beautiful fruitful garden. What kind of care do young apple plantings require so that their fruiting from year to year only pleases the gardener?
We create favorable conditions for the development of apple trees
In order for trees to grow and develop beautifully, from a young age they should be provided with the most favorable conditions. If the soil for planting is not of the most fertile type, it is imperative to carry out top dressing in the area of the near-trunk circles. In addition, the land in this place must be maintained in a loose state, protected from the dominance of weeds.
Often, gardeners, in order to save space, plant vegetables in the garden, not far from the trees. However, not every pair of plants gets along well. Therefore, without special knowledge, it is better not to carry out such experiments, especially at the initial stage of development of young trees.
What you need to know about loosening the trunks
It is recommended to loosen the soil in near-trunk circles several times during the entire warm season. This procedure is carried out in early spring to a depth of approximately 10-12 cm. Then you need to level the structure of the earth. In the summer, you also need to perform 3-4 loosening, it is better to do this after the next watering or rain.
The frequency of these activities depends on the type of soil and its ability to retain moisture. So, heavy soils are cultivated more often, and light soil can be loosened less often. How deep to shovel the surface layer also depends on the level of occurrence of the root system.
Fertilizers and feeding of a young garden
A young garden needs fertilizers, but you shouldn't overfeed your pets either. By the way, in the first year after planting apple trees, it is better to forget about fertilizers for now. During this period, the root system is not ready to master them in full. So far, the main task is to take care of a sufficient level of soil moisture, mulching.
In the second year, you can already think about applying a complete mineral fertilizer. But trouble will not happen if at this time you apply only nitrogen fertilizing on your personal plot.
Fertilization rates depend on many factors. The age of the apple trees, the type of soil, and the area of the trunk circle play a role here. You also need to pay attention to the composition of complex mineral fertilizers and the proportion of nitrogen in them. It is useful for novice gardeners to know that on light types of soil, as well as on peatlands, the average recommended dose of potassium should be increased by a quarter.
It makes sense to carry out separate fertilization. In the spring, nitrogen is used, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizing are planned for the fall. If this was not done in the autumn months, then full mineral fertilizer is used in the spring.
Phosphate and potash fertilizers are applied once every 2-3 years. The same rule applies to organic fertilizers. As organics they use:
• horse manure - 3 kg;
• cow - 5 kg;
• bird droppings - 1 kg;
• humus - 6 kg;
• vegetable compost - 7 kg.
The rate of one component is calculated for 1 square meter. area of the trunk circle. In the case when the type of soil in your area is light, organic is used more often.
Another feature of the cultivation of light soils relates to the application of nitrogen fertilizers. Here, 2/3 of the established rate is applied in the spring, immediately after the snow melts. In this case, the fertilizer must be dug in deeper than on heavy soils. The remaining third of the fertilizer is used during the period when there is increased tree growth. For apple trees, it falls around mid-June.
The fact that the trees have enough food is evidenced by good growth. It should be about 50 cm. If it is much smaller, you need to apply additional feeding.

Pruning A Young Garden

How to do it? Each tree should have its own approach. Pruning depends not only on the genus and family to which the plant belongs, but also on the age and planting time
Apple Blossom Beetle - Apple Tree Pest
You can meet the apple blossom beetle almost everywhere. Its larvae and beetles are capable of quite badly damaging apple trees. The most dangerous is damage to vulnerable buds with the onset of early spring, when beetles gnaw deep enough pits into them with something resembling pricks. The harmful larvae feed on pistils and stamens and, gnawing out the receptacle, strongly glue the petals from the inside. The result of a similar activity of the apple blossom beetle is unblown, brown and dried buds
