Growing dill for sale

Dill is one of those plants that is highly popular and in demand among the population, especially in autumn and spring days. And in the summer for okroshka and salads, few people would refuse to buy a bunch of such fresh greens. The peculiarities of growing this type of greens will be important not only for those who are going to sell dill on the market, but also for ordinary owners of summer cottages and vegetable gardens who would like to grow high-quality greens for themselves and their loved ones

About the usefulness of dill

Umbrella dill has a pleasant, memorable aroma and contains special essential oils. In addition, it contains many important vitamins, for example, of the B group, a large amount of vitamin C, there is also a beauty vitamin E, a rare vitamin PP and other useful microelements.

Dill is used both fresh and dried, less often salted. When dill is eaten in any form, digestion improves, abdominal distension is eliminated, pressure and the human nervous system become stable.

In what conditions to grow dill?

Dill is cold-hardy enough. Therefore, he will tolerate low temperatures and even small frosts normally. Seeds germinate in the soil already at an air temperature of plus 3 degrees C. So that the seeds do not tighten with the shoots, they are preliminarily treated before sowing to improve germination.

The best temperatures for germinating dill seeds are plus 15 and a little higher. Also, they (seeds) need good light. Dill does not require especially fertile land for good growth. He will have enough mulch soil, fertilized with past fertilizers, which were introduced into it before planting dill.

The best yields of dill still produce fertile, moist soils. If the soil is dry, then the stem and umbrella (seed) part of the plant will most likely begin to form in the dill. If dill is grown not for sale, but for oneself, then this is not a problem. Since you can pluck the green leaves of the plant from the stem and eat it. If for sale, then you need to plant dill in such soil (keeping an eye on its moisture content), on which it will give greens for a long time, from which it will be possible to create bundles for their sale on the market.

Preparing seeds for germination

It has already been said above what needs to be done in order for the seeds to sprout as early as possible, and not to delay the sprouting up to one month (this happens, alas). There are two ways to prepare seeds for better germination. The first is called bubbling.

Seeds in this version are soaked in oxygenated water. An aquarium compressor can create such water. The water temperature in this case should be about 20 degrees C. And the procedure for "oxygenation" of the seeds lasts up to 20 hours. After boring, the seeds must be sown immediately into the soil.

The second method is to soak in plain water for three days, with water changes every seven hours. You need to sow such seeds in well-moistened soil.

Features of growing dill for sale

It should be understood that a special peak in the popularity of dill for sale is in spring and autumn. Therefore, by this time you should have material to sell.

Early dill can be grown in greenhouses with the simplest film structures. In summer, such greenhouses, after planting dill in them, can be used for growing tomatoes and cucumbers.

For a greenhouse with air heating and growing dill in it in the spring, you can use the following planting and harvesting schedule:

• from 5 to 15 March, seeds are planted in the ground;

• the crop is harvested around April 20-25;

• The next sowing of dill can be done in mid-July, harvesting it from August to October.

In the greenhouse, use ordinary reinforced film. It can be applied for four years, then changed to a new one. For the winter, the film is rolled up and put away for storage.

If it is not possible to use additional heating in the greenhouse, but only the heat from the sun's rays of spring can be used, then planting should be done later:

• sow dill in early April;

• harvest from 10 to 20 May.

Sow in the open field, where early potatoes or white cabbage, onions were planted and dug in the first decade of August. In case of frosts in October, dill should be covered with covering materials.

Dill is planted in greenhouses and under the cover of crops in the form of "lines" or a solid carpet (the latter is more profitable). With a continuous sowing scheme, seeds should be planted with a "carpet" all over the greenhouse soil, but in the middle, make a path of 40 cm. Seeds should be taken 15 grams per square meter of soil.

Dill planted for sale should be watered sparingly, keeping the soil moist. Usually 2-3 waterings for the entire sowing are enough for him. Also, if necessary, apply nitrogenous fertilizer to the soil as a top dressing once for each sowing.

Harvesting is done in the morning, then the bunches of cut dill are placed in a cold room or in a refrigerator. By the way, in one area of soil after harvesting, it is allowed to sow seeds up to three times during the entire summer season.
