Mary pointed (lat. Chenopodium acuminatum) - herbaceous annual, which belongs to the genus Mar. In nature, it lives in Asian countries and on the territory of Russia, to a greater extent distributed in the Republic of Altai, Buryatia, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Irkutsk and Omsk Regions. Less common in the European part of Russia and European countries located in the southeast. Typical habitats are sandy zones, steppes, roadsides.
Characteristics of culture
Pointed maria is represented by herbaceous annuals with a height of no more than 0.7 m. Also in nature, you can find dwarf specimens about 30 cm in height. The stem of the culture under consideration is tetrahedral, rather branched, endowed with red-green grooves, has a powdery dusting and hairs. The foliage is small, petiolate, ovate or rhomboid, whole-edged, pointed, green in color, arranged alternately. On the reverse side, the foliage can have a whitish tint due to a powdery coating, while the edges of the foliage are always reddish.
The flowers are collected in dense glomeruli, which, in turn, form spike-shaped inflorescences. The latter are collected in paniculate inflorescences of a pyramidal shape. The flowering of spiky mari is observed in early - mid-summer, which depends entirely on the climate. The fruit is a dry nut that bears a huge amount of seeds. Seeds are small, no more than 1 - 1.25 mm in diameter, black, with a glossy surface, endowed with a thin pericarp, can be oval or compressed round. Fruiting takes place in mid-August - early September.
Usage
In culture, the species is not used for one simple reason - it cannot boast of high decorative properties. Moreover, it is prone to self-seeding, which means that it is the worst enemy in relation to cultivated plants, since it is able to quickly fill the territory and suppress it with its growth. In general, spiky marsh is called a weed, in reality it is so, and sometimes it is very difficult to fight it. If we do not carry out weeding during the time, the cultivated plants growing nearby will begin to wither away, which can lead to death, because the pointed marrow takes away the lion's share of valuable substances from them.
The only thing that can be praised for spiky pox is for the healing properties that are inherent in it. For medicinal purposes, only the aerial part of the plant is used. Its harvesting is carried out during flowering. The foliage and stems are dried in a shady and well-ventilated area, covered with gauze from hated flies. Periodically, the collected grass is turned over, and then placed in a glass or wooden container with a tight lid. Medicinal raw materials are stored for no more than a year, later it loses its healing properties. It is important to remember that before you start taking decoctions and teas of spiky pox, you need to consult a doctor, otherwise you can become a hostage of a hospital bed as a result of poisoning.
A broth and tea from mari spiky are used as antihistamines, as well as a means that can raise immunity, restore the body after colds and flu, increase appetite and relieve anxiety. Also, tea and broth are recommended for the treatment of diseases of the nervous system, constipation and respiratory diseases, including bronchitis and tonsillitis. In case of stomach pains, tea from mari spiky will also be salvation. In no case should the broth and tea be consumed during pregnancy and lactation. You should also monitor the dosage, because an overdose promises difficulty breathing, vomiting, nausea, blurred eyes.
