Five-minute jam is a help for any housewife, because it only takes 5 minutes to prepare it. You can cook it from any kind of berries and fruits: strawberries, currants, raspberries, blueberries, cherries, apples, peaches, etc.
Jam prepared in this way has a number of advantages:
* you need a small amount of sugar;
* berries (fruits) retain their shape, do not boil over;
* does not require a lot of time for cooking;
* up to 70% of vitamins are preserved in the finished product. Therefore, such jam is more beneficial than the one cooked in the usual way, it preserves the taste of fresh berries.
The principle of making such a jam is usually the same for many types of berries. It is necessary to boil the syrup from the required amount of sugar and water, dip the previously prepared berries into it and cook for 5 minutes. After that, pour the jam into sterilized jars and roll up.
It is very useful to prepare raspberry jam in this way. The berries are almost as fresh, the use of such a jam helps very well with colds. But you need to cook a five-minute jam from raspberries very carefully so that the berries do not boil. That is why, before cooking raspberries, you just need to sort out debris and leaves, you cannot wash (!). You can just pour the berries with salted water for a short time so that all the worm bugs float to the surface. After that, drain the water and put the raspberries in a bowl in layers, sprinkling with sugar. Then leave the raspberries for three to four hours in order for the berries to start juice. You need to cook raspberry jam-five minutes on low heat, after boiling, continue to cook for five minutes. If foam forms on the surface of the jam during cooking, it should be periodically removed. After the jam is ready, it must be poured hot into pre-prepared jars.
Peach jam
Its peculiarity is that you need to cook it in two passes, each of which takes five to seven minutes in duration.
You will need:
0.5 kg peaches
300 g sugar
vanillin on the tip of a knife (optional)
Preparation
Wash peaches, remove seeds from fruits. Cut into small cubes in a deep bowl, cover with sugar and leave for four hours for the peaches to juice.
Then cook over low heat until boiling, let it simmer for five minutes and remove from heat. Leave to cool completely. Then bring to a boil again, simmer for five minutes, remove from heat. Optionally, you can add a little vanillin to the jam. This should be done a minute before the end of cooking.
After that, cool the finished jam and pour it into clean dry jars.
Strawberry five-minute jam
For those who like to enjoy fresh strawberries in winter, this method of making jam is just a godsend.
You will need:
1 kg strawberries
400-600 g sugar
The berries need to be sorted out and washed, then put in a bowl and covered with sugar. Leave on for a while until the strawberries let out juice. Then put the bowl on the fire and let the jam boil, after boiling, cook for another five minutes. After that, pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, roll up. Turn upside down, cover with a blanket and leave to cool completely. After that, the jam should be stored in a cool dry place.
You should know that the five-minute jam will never get thick due to the short heat treatment, and because of the small amount of sugar it will never be sugar-coated.
