If you want indoor plants to bloom in your house almost continuously, with a short break for winter rest, it is worth growing hibiscus. Despite the fact that each flower lives on the plant for only one or two days, but the Chinese rose forms so many buds that it is almost imperceptible how one of them fades, and the other only opens its beautiful petals. In addition, this is not the most whimsical plant that does not require much maintenance and will not cause trouble even for novice growers
Features of the content of hibiscus
What are the requirements of hibiscus in order for it to be able to please its owners with abundant flowering? This is one of those colors that get along well with a person in a comfortable temperature for both of them. Unlike other flowers, which in the winter period of dormancy require air cooling to such a level in which you and I would live extremely chilly, hibiscus perfectly withstands wintering in an apartment with central heating. If the temperature in the room drops below +15? C, the Chinese rose will react with yellowing of the leaves.
In order for the plant to please with flowering, it needs to take a place well-lit by the sun. If the hibiscus does not bloom for a long time, perhaps the reason is precisely that it lacks sunlight. Place it closer to the window, and in spring, with the first gentle warm rays, you will see how the buds begin to appear one after another.
A pot for growing hibiscus, despite the fact that this is a fairly large plant, needs a small one. For an annual Chinese rose, which is already in full bloom, a 1 liter pot is enough. However, a rich soil mixture is required. And it is advisable to carry out top dressing during flowering approximately once every 10 days.
Reproduction and formation of hibiscus
Regular red hibiscus propagates very simply by cuttings. The cuttings take root and take root quite easily and quickly.
But varietal hibiscus are more finicky. They are reluctant to root cuttings. But they can be grafted onto an established stalk of red hibiscus.
In just a year, hibiscus can grow to a height of about a meter. Buds are formed at the tips of the shoots. To form a beautiful branching bush, strewn with flowers, in the spring they prune the bole. Leave about a third of the height. Do not be sorry, because thanks to this technique, the flowering will only double and triple on a branched bush. And the cut branches can be used for reproduction.
If you do not form a hibiscus, then it will grow into one trunk. Or side shoots will appear where necessary. Therefore, the first two to three years require attention to form the "skeleton" of a houseplant.
Apical cuttings take root best of all. The stalk is made about 10 cm long. It is important that there are at least two knots on the stalk. A sheet is removed from the bottom corner. And they bury this knot in the soil. Roots will go from it. And the kidney should wake up from the top.
When cuttings are cut from a long shoot, the lower cut is made at an angle, no more than 1 cm long. Cut the slices well in the root or aloe juice. And the large leaves that remain on the cuttings are cut at least in half.
For rooting cuttings, take small pots, or cups. Peat tablets are also suitable. They are installed in containers of a mini-greenhouse. Or they hide it in packages. Before closing the container or tying the bag, the cuttings are sprayed with water or a growth stimulant. The cuttings take root in about three to four weeks at temperatures from + 18 ° C to + 25 ° C.
