Seeds are perhaps one of the most important components of a good harvest, because with poor sowing material, it is impossible to get well-developed plants, and accordingly, the harvest from them will also be completely different from what we expect. How can you avoid purchasing low-quality seeds if they are packed in paper bags and it is impossible to examine them? Although even close examination of the appearance of the seeds is not a panacea, low-quality seeds can also look good

So what should you look for when buying seeds in order to avoid the bitter disappointment of the result later?

1. Do not enter into new items, their colorful descriptions and do not buy seeds of new varieties for the entire plot at once. No, you need to plant new items, because it may happen that they turn out to be exactly the seeds that you have been looking for all your life. But remember a simple rule that will help you not to be left without a charming summer flower bed and without a good harvest: the territory allocated for new varieties should not occupy more than 30-35% of the total area of one or another plant species. The remaining 65-70% are planted with old, well-proven varieties. So you will immediately "kill two birds with one stone": and check new seeds, and do not harm yourself if the new seeds do not fit for some reason.

2. When buying seeds, be very careful! Poor quality seed is wasted time and a vegetable garden without a crop. In addition, if you buy low-quality seeds, then along with them it is fashionable to acquire various plant diseases.

Therefore, we pay attention to the following factors:

Firstly. The manufacturing company indicated on the package with seeds should be more or less normal, its name, contacts and legal address on the package should be clearly printed and easy to read. If, instead of the full name and details, something incomprehensible or just the name of the company is indicated, then you should not purchase such seeds.

Secondly. Be aware of expiration dates! Be sure to check them, besides, pay attention to a small detail: the expiration dates on bags with seeds (it does not matter, bright colorful bags or the most common paper bags with a single color application) should not be printed using a typographic method, they must be applied separately along with the batch number. Application of expiration dates by means of stickers is not allowed! Otherwise, you risk buying expired seeds. Unfortunately, there are dishonest sellers who, at very low prices, purchase expiring seeds, stick new dates and sell them under the guise of good quality seeds. It is clear that the germination capacity of such seeds will be practically zero.

Thirdly, do not rush to colorful bags with bright colorful application of photographs of the future harvest. With regard to seeds, this is exactly the case when you pay more than half of the cost of seeds for a beautiful, bright package. You can do without it, right? Moreover, we need seeds, not packaging. But the quality of seeds in a regular bag with a monochromatic application does not differ from the quality of seeds in a bright package.

And also, looking at a beautiful picture, you form certain expectations from this type of seed (which is quite natural), but the picture conceived on the bag is just a beautiful picture. And attention should be paid to the information located on the back of the bag: seed weight, planting time, flowering and fruiting dates, and so on. It is from this information that one can objectively assess whether it is worth purchasing this type of seed.

FourthIf you want to get your own seeds from plants grown from commercial seeds, then do not purchase hybrids! Seeds of hybrid varieties, in the event that the variety suits you in all respects, you need to purchase anew every year. You can collect seeds, of course, but by sowing them next year, you will get plants that have little similar characteristics to their hybrid predecessors.

Fifth, never buy seeds in bulk in large bags. After opening the package, it is advisable to use all the seeds, since when stored open without proper conditions (which are difficult to provide at home), the seeds lose their quality and germination.

And finally: do not buy cheap seeds in bright, colorful, but crookedly glued, packages with blurry expiration dates, unreadable font. Since in these bags there is a 99% probability of low-quality seed.

Quality seeds and a good harvest for you!
