Sansevieria is familiar to many indoor floriculture lovers under the name pike tail. The flower received such an original name for the interesting color of long leaves. The transverse dark stripes and light highlights on the elongated leaf plate actually resemble the color of a predatory fish. But there are other interesting varieties of sansevieria, no less bright and original. They are very popular in indoor floriculture due to their resistance to adverse conditions and decorative characteristics
Features of sansevieria
Among other benefits, sansevieria is famous for its ability to absorb carbon dioxide and other substances harmful to humans, instead of saturating the air with oxygen. Therefore, it is recommended to choose it for landscaping offices, high-rise apartments on the lower floors, houses built close to the industrial zone.
The length of sansevieria leaves on average reaches 40-45 cm. The width of the leaf plate can be up to 15 cm. Under indoor conditions, sansevieria can bloom, the length of the peduncle grows 1 m or more. Variegated forms can be decorated with contrasting light green longitudinal stripes, framed with a silvery border. Such plants are not capricious in terms of lighting, but staying in the shade around the clock, they soon lose their bright pattern.
Reproduction of sansevieria and flower transplant
They prefer to propagate the plant in two ways: by leaf cuttings or by dividing the rhizome during transplantation. These works are carried out from March to April.
To prepare a nutrient substrate for sansevieria, take:
• deciduous-humus soil - 1 part;
• sod land - 1 part;
• sand - 2 parts.
In order for the sansevieria to more actively build up the leaf mass, the pot for transplanting must be selected in proportion to the root system. The flower should not be too free in the ground, otherwise the forces will be directed to the development of the root system, and the leaves will begin to slow down in growth. For the root system of sansevieria, which should be in the upper layers of the nutrient substrate, it is better to choose low and wide containers. Before laying the soil mixture, the pot is filled with drainage material by a quarter.
Young plants are moved to a fresh substrate more often - once a year or two. Older specimens are sent to a new pot as the rhizome grows every 3-5 years.
For propagation by grafting, the sansevieria leaf is cut off completely and divided transversely into several parts. The cuttings are allowed to dry for a day or two, after which they are put on rooting in wet sand.
Sansevieria care
A place for sansevieria is allocated on the windowsills, and for record-high varieties - on the floor near the window. This arrangement will prevent continuous greening of the leaf plate in variegated forms. But bright illumination of the flowerpot with direct sunlight is also undesirable.
Sansevieria is unpretentious in terms of humidity and air temperature in the room. It will withstand the range within + 16 … + 30 degrees C, but still prefers less extreme temperatures.
In its natural habitat, the plant is found in Central Africa, India, Madagascar. She is accustomed to dry periods and has the ability to accumulate moisture. Therefore, irreparable will not happen if the plant is left without watering for a long time. But to fill the flower, on the contrary, is not worth it. Watering is carried out carefully so that drops do not fall into the center of the leaf rosette. Wipe the flower from dust with a soft cloth.
Like other decorative deciduous plants, it is recommended to feed sansevieria with nitrogen fertilizers. They are brought in from late spring to early October.
Among the diseases dangerous for sansevieria are fungal infections. Leaves that have lost their elasticity serve as a signal of defeat. With such a problem, it is necessary to treat the soil in the pot with fungicides in solution or tablets.

Why Do Tender Begonia Leaves Dry And Wither
It is not for nothing that begonia is called a room rose. By the beauty of the flower, it is not inferior to the queen of the garden, and even surpasses her in the decorativeness of the leaves. However, despite these advantages, begonias have their disadvantages. Namely - it is a rather delicate flower and it has its own "whims". Even in indoor conditions, begonia can be taken to hurt for no apparent reason, starting with wilting of the tips of the leaves and ending with rotting of the roots. What is the cause of the disease and how can it be cured?

White Spot Of Gooseberry And Currant Leaves
White spot, otherwise called septoria, actively attacks gooseberries with currants in the summer. Red currant is affected by such an unpleasant ailment to a lesser extent compared to black. The harmfulness of septoria is quite high, especially in the southern regions - dead tissue on infected leaves often reaches 20 - 50% of their total surface. This disease, in addition to the massive drying of the leaves, also causes their premature fall. And for sick shoots, it is characteristic
Ornamental Leaves And Berries Of Loja
Perhaps the name of this plant served as the prototype of the slang label that today is easily hung on people who live by their own labor. Trees and shrubs with decorative leaves and edible berries can grow on very scarce soils, without shifting the care of nutrition to others, but giving shelter in root nodules to bacteria that are involved in the restoration of nitrogen molecules - the basis of the diet of any plant. Fragrant flowers attract bees with nectar. Loch is also a healer
