May has come - the last month of spring, ahead of 3 months of summer, 3 months of new worries for gardeners and gardeners. But in the summer we will definitely find a moment to relax: drink tea in the shade, lie in a hammock or swing on a garden swing, and at this time we want the flower beds on the site to please the eye. If you have not planted seedlings in open ground or have not sown flowers at all, it does not matter, there are species that are planted in May
knapweed
Cornflowers are wonderful flowers that do not require maintenance, pleasing to the eye with various colors (by the way, the flowerbed looks very beautiful on which poppies and cornflowers are combined, especially since they also bloom at the same time when planted at the same time). I plant cornflowers with seeds in a warm, well-warmed by the spring sun, land. The seeds do not need to be planted deep into the ground, it is enough to cover them with a layer of soil of 2-3 millimeters. For cornflowers, it is advisable to choose a flower bed so that the next year they remain in the same place, since these flowers reproduce well by self-sowing and each year they will sprout and bloom on their own. You will only have to periodically thin out overly dense plantings of cornflowers (they can be transplanted to another place or simply destroyed). Keep in mind that if necessary, it is not very easy to get rid of cornflowers, since seeds scattered by self-sown can germinate for several more years (this is from experience, for the third year I will not breed poppies and cornflowers in any way). But a flower bed without cornflowers and poppies looks boring.
Gladioli
They are usually planted in early May, but in general they can be planted until early June. Before planting, it is advisable to keep the tubers in a weak solution of potassium permanganate or disinfect with another means, then you can germinate a little, but this is not necessary. To germinate in a bowl, pour some water on the very bottom, and put the onions there.
Then we plant gladioli on a flower bed in open ground. When planting, keep in mind that these flowers like sunny, bright places and do not grow in the shade. The well for planting gladiolus should be 3 times larger than the bulb. The planting material is lowered into the hole with the sprout up, sprinkled with soil and watered well, sparing no water.
Cannes
Now is the time to plant these heat-loving plants on the flowerbed, because these beautiful tall perennials will look worthy on any flowerbed. They are planted in a flower bed in the second half of May, when the soil is completely warmed up and the likelihood of night frosts disappears. The best way to propagate these flowers is in pieces of the root that have one to three live buds. I plant pieces of root in a pre-prepared flower bed with nutritious soil, if the soil is poor, then peat, compote or humus must be added to the ground before planting. Then, in the holes 10-12 centimeters deep, carefully put pieces of root with buds. The distance between the holes is approximately half a meter. Cannes grow very quickly, and in one and a half to two months you will admire the beautiful flowering plants.
Daylilies
Very beautiful flowers that can grow not only in the sun, but also in partial shade. Of course, daylilies feel more comfortable in a sunny area. The best planting time is early May, but the end of May is good for this. The only thing is that daylilies planted at the end of the month can bloom as much as next year.
Daylilies are not demanding on soil and moisture, because their powerful root system is able to provide moisture to the plant even in dry periods, but you should not neglect watering either, in order to prevent the death of the plant. Caring for the plant is also simple: occasional watering, loosening the soil, killing weeds - and daylilies will delight your eyes.
