Despite the fact that the dacha for many is not a place of permanent residence, most gardeners still strive to make the country house cozy even for their temporary stay there. But, as a rule, this coziness is created by things that are no longer particularly needed at home, but it is also a pity to throw them away. From here it becomes clear that the aesthetics of a country house does not always win

Creativity

However, some summer residents with creative potential may well not only use old things, but also give them a second, new life, updating them. For example, a table and chairs can be decorated using decoupage technique, and the textiles of a country house can be refreshed by mastering embroidery, knitting, and patchwork. Perhaps it is the latest technique that will make it possible to use old bedspreads, curtains, dresses and other remnants of fabric to the fullest, because this foreign word means nothing more than the creation of any thing from scraps!

Patchwork technique

On the one hand, the patchwork technique is not overly complicated, but, on the other hand, it requires certain cutting and sewing skills and a certain sequence of work.

So, the patchwork technique is different. The simplest is the traditional technique, in which patches of fabric of a certain size are sewn on the wrong side, forming a geometric pattern. Anything can be done with this technique - from oven mitts to bed linen.

Crazy patchwork - this is the sewing of random, often irregularly shaped patches into fancy geometric compositions. Here, a real scope for creativity opens up, because even the seams can be trimmed not only with unusual stitches, but also with threads of different colors, ribbons and other things. And the composition itself will only be decorated with sewn buttons, beads, lace, ribbons and other finishing materials.

A knitted patchwork is a composition made from knitted pieces.

Quilting Is a patchwork technique in which pieces of fabric are joined by a machine stitch that imitates a pattern. In addition, a thin layer of padding polyester or batting is placed between the fabrics, due to which the product is voluminous and looks more aesthetically pleasing than a thing made using traditional techniques.

These are the main types of patchwork technique, but there is no doubt that now there are many varieties of this trend in needlework, because each craftswoman comes up with something of her own, and this may later become popular.

What do you need for a patchwork

Patchwork requires certain things:

- paper, but cardboard is better for creating templates;

- chalk, pencils, ruler;

- you can't do without scissors;

- pins, needles and threads, crochet hook (sometimes needed);

- sewing machine.

Each craftswoman herself subsequently adds something she needs to this set. The usual, everything is clarified directly in the process.

Creating a composition

First of all, you need to decide on the style of the thing that needs to be done. For a summer residence, as a rule, country style is most suitable. This style assumes linen and cotton fabrics with floral or floral designs. There may also be images of animals, birds, butterflies, and in general the theme of nature, village life. The color scheme is rather warm, but not too bright: yellow, red, pink, blue, green and others. If the item is small, it is better to choose light and warm colors, and the drawing should be small. And, on the contrary, for larger things, it is better to choose blue, blue shades and a large print.

After drawing up the composition on paper in general terms, you need to calculate the number, shape and size of the patches. Further, for the convenience of work, it is advisable to cut out stencils for pieces of fabric from cardboard or paper, taking into account the seam allowance.

Then all the shreds are prepared, fitted and swept away. Then, when the composition is checked, the shreds are sewn on a sewing machine. Of course, it is better to combine the edges of the patches not only in color and pattern, but also in structure. So, for example, cotton will look better next to linen, and satin with crepe satin.

You can come up with compositions yourself or look at ideas in magazines and the Internet, and then unnecessary things will not only serve as a second service, but also become a real masterpiece that will decorate your country house!
