Small-leaved maple is a tree, the height of which can reach fifteen meters, while the height of individual specimens can be twenty-four meters, and the plant reaches fifty to sixty centimeters in diameter. The bark of this plant is painted in gray or dark gray tones, young shoots will be yellowish in color, they are naked, and also more or less pubescent. The blades are solid-edged, occasionally they can also be slightly wavy along the very edge. Such leaves of the small-leaved maple are drawn into a rather long pointed tip. The leaves are dense and bare, but only the youngest leaves can have barbs on the underside at the very corners of the veins. Inflorescences of small-leaved maple are endowed with about fifteen to thirty flowers, which can be colored both slightly greenish and light yellow. The diameter of the flowers of this plant will be about six to eight millimeters. The fruits of the small-leaved maple are lionfish, the length of which is one and a half to three centimeters: such fruits will diverge at an acute or obtuse angle. The wings are somewhat narrowed upwards, and their length will be one and a half to two times the length of the nuts.

The flowering of this plant occurs at the very beginning of leaf blooming, which occurs around the end of May or at the beginning of June. At the same time, seed ripening occurs in the period from late August to early September. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the Far East. As for the general distribution, small-leaved maple is found in Korea and Japan. For growth, the plant prefers the edges of coniferous forests, slopes, river terraces, deciduous and mixed forests, at an altitude of up to a thousand meters above sea level. It is noteworthy that the plant can grow not only singly, but also in small groups.
