Lagenander ovoid is found mainly in the picturesque waters of distant Sri Lanka. Often, this beauty also grows along rivers with streams in galley-clay soils. Getting to know the plant

Lagenandra ovoid, representing the Aronnikovs family, is endowed with oval leaves painted in an incredibly juicy bright green color. All leaves are slightly elongated upward and are attached to creeping and very powerful cord-like rhizomes, reaching up to 8 mm in diameter. In width, they grow up to fifteen centimeters, and in length - up to forty. And their fleshy petioles often grow up to half a meter long. By the way, the underwater parts of this green pet also reach a length of about half a meter, but at the same time they are characterized by a rather slow growth.

With a periodicity of about eight weeks, the above-water parts of the beautiful ovoid Lagenandra are covered with curved and slightly wrapped pretty flowers. From the inside, such flowers are painted in purple-reddish tones, and from the outside they are silvery.

The height of this aquatic beauty in aquariums almost never exceeds half a meter, it is much more suitable for keeping in picturesque paludariums - in them it demonstrates the best growth rates.

How to grow

To grow the heat-loving ovoid lagenandra, it is important to try to select only warm aquariums, the temperature regime in which ranges from twenty-four to twenty-eight degrees. The temperature should not drop below, since its decrease adversely affects the quality of development and growth of an amazing aquatic inhabitant.

The hardness of the water in which the ovoid lagenander will be placed should be medium (up to eighteen degrees), and the active reaction should be as neutral as possible. In principle, a slightly acidic one is also quite acceptable. Water should be changed constantly (up to a quarter), and it is extremely important to replace it exclusively with water with similar aquarium performance. It is important to try to avoid the appearance of turbidity in aquariums - they should be kept clean at all times.

The best soil for the comfortable maintenance of the ovoid lagenander will be a soil enriched with nutrients and well silted up. And under the roots of a bizarre aquatic inhabitant, a mixture of clay and charcoal is often placed. Almost any material will be suitable as a substrate, due to the powerful root system of the heat-loving beauty. As for additional dressings, there is no need for them - as a rule, it receives all the elements important for it through its root system.

Low light intensity is best for the comfort of a luxurious green pet. Natural, moderate lighting is by far the best option. When the light is too bright, they try to shade this water beauty well with other green pets floating on the water surface. In no case should direct sunlight fall on the wonderful plant. As far as artificial lighting is concerned, it should include fluorescent lamps compatible with ordinary standard incandescent lamps. Twelve-hour daylight hours for the unpretentious ovoid lagenander will be more than enough. Well, if suddenly the daylight hours turn out to be longer, then it can begin to grow rather quickly with all kinds of algae.

Reproduction of Lagenandra ovoid in artificially created conditions is exclusively vegetative - it always occurs due to young plants that periodically appear on solid rhizomes.
