How to prepare the ground?

Soil preparation in the cultivation and care of radishes takes a special place. The soil for planting this vegetable crop must be chosen so that it is fertile and loose. Soils with a neutral acid reaction are well suited. You should not plant radishes on depleted soils, where there are practically no useful components. The place for planting radishes has been prepared since the autumn season. At this time, substances such as peat and humus are added to the soil. Potassium and phosphorus-based products fertilize the soil well. However, organic is absolutely not suitable here. In addition, it is categorically impossible to plant radishes where cabbage or radish used to grow. You should not add manure to the soil, although it provokes improved leaf growth. However, the manure will take away all the micronutrients from the radish.

How to plant a radish?

With proper care, it is necessary to plant this root crop in the area where the tomato bushes were previously located. Planting time is usually in the last weeks of May. Then the future harvest will be plentiful and of high quality. Seeds are laid to a depth of no more than two centimeters. This is necessary so that the fruits can set normally. The distance between the rows of radishes should be maintained - from eight to ten centimeters. Up to two thousand seeds can be planted on one square meter. There is one trick when growing radishes for a rich and tasty harvest - the sprouts that will sprout after planting will need to be thinned out, while leaving a two centimeter distance.

When growing radishes from seeds, it is necessary to initially plan the entire future process of working on the care of the crop. Daylight hours when growing this root crop should be at least twelve hours. In early spring, you can start growing radish seedlings. It will be possible to land in the ground only in May-June. When planting radish seeds in this way, you need to water the ground with plenty of water in advance. Only then can the planting material be sown into the soil. As soon as the first two leaves are formed at the seedlings, thinning is required, leaving only a couple of centimeters between the seedlings of the plant. This condition is a necessity, since it is not uncommon for novice summer residents to grow this vegetable and fail due to the lack of timely thinning.

Growing vegetable crops of radishes
