Saintpaulias, or as they are also called, indoor violets, are able to delight the grower with their attractive appearance all year round. Of course, for this you need to follow some rules for caring for the plant, but they are all simple and straightforward

With proper treatment and care, violets will bloom much better. In addition, Saintpaulia has many varieties, among which there are both laconic, modest, and bright original plants. Even in size, violets differ, including very miniature crops that can grow only with high-quality lighting. Indoor violets include uzambar, ampel and other types of Saintpaulias.

How to care for Saintpaulia?

The main factor in providing proper care for indoor violets is choosing the right place. It must be chosen in such a way that the lighting on the flower pot is as long as possible during the day. But it is important to make sure that the sun's rays do not touch the plants. Usually containers with violets are placed on windowsills. It is important here to avoid direct contact between the window glass and plant leaves.

The most popular among all varieties of Saintpaulia chimera. Their shape and color are very attractive and can serve as an aesthetic addition to the interior of a house or apartment. By the way, reproduction in such plants occurs in a very unusual way. The cultures themselves can be feminine or masculine. They are distinguished by the color of the leaf plates, although initially these plants appeared in general in the process of partial mutation. In any of these flowers, there are layers of normal or deformed cells.

You need to take care of Saintpaulias in different ways. It all depends to a large extent on the type of soil in which the plant is planted. A mixture specialized for such flowers is sold in stores. But the substrate can be made at home with your own efforts. To do this, you need to take three parts of turf, two parts of pisto-type land and one part of peat and coniferous soil. For a better composition, you can add a small amount of sand and charcoal to the prepared soil. The drainage system in this case can consist of foam and expanded clay. Watering plants should be done properly, as its deficiency or deficiency will equally badly affect the growth and development of indoor violets.

Wick irrigation

Often, violets are transferred to wick watering. But for this, the flower must have healthy and strong roots. To carry out this procedure, you will need a fairly wide pot, a container for including fertilizers and water, a synthetic wick, a pot with a special hole and light earth that allows air to pass through.

It is very easy to create a system for capillary irrigation if you follow a certain scheme and sequence of operations. A twenty-centimeter piece of cord is required to pass through the drainage layer. Its diameter should be no more than five millimeters. This cord is laid in the form of a ring at the top of the substrate. From the past place, Saintpaulia must be obtained along with a lump of soil. After that, the plant is placed in a prepared container, adding sand and perlite there. Gently moistening it through a pipette will help create a denser texture for the earth. You can start the first wick irrigation procedure only when the plant feels comfortable in a new place. At the very first watering, the wick will have to be moistened, but then the water will move by itself in the direction of the artificially created capillaries.

The amount of water for irrigation also needs to be monitored very carefully. If the ground becomes very damp, then a slightly thinner wick should be used. For this, it is not necessary to make a new plant transplant. It is enough just to remove one of the stripes with which the lace is woven. A nest or a transplant hole can be formed using the most ordinary glass.

It is very convenient to water the wick character, because in this case one container can serve as an excellent watering system for several plants at once. In addition, there is another important advantage here, because in such a situation water does not fall on the leaves of the flowers at all. Also, the fertilizer will enter the plant in certain dosages.
