Those who, from their own experience, have felt the scale of damage that unexpected spring frosts bring to the garden, it is worth thinking about those crops in which the flowering period occurs later than other plants. One of these is chokeberry, also known as chokeberry
Features and benefits of chokeberry
Aronia is a very profitable plant for home gardens. It gives high yields, and its berries have valuable medicinal qualities. Aronia is used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and ailments of the digestive system. It will be useful for hypertension, is used as an anti-scurvy agent, is rich in vitamins C, P, and also has the ability to accumulate such a valuable element as iodine.
In addition to the above advantages, chokeberry will undoubtedly become a decoration for your garden. This plant is grown both in the form of a tree and in the form of a bush. In the latter case, chokeberry can be used as a hedge. Its densely leafy twigs do not lose their attractiveness even with the arrival of cold weather. In autumn, they take on bright noble shades of red.
Requirements for growing chokeberry
Aronia is not capricious with regard to the composition of the soil. And its moisture-loving nature allows it to be grown where other horticultural crops would be uncomfortable because of the close groundwater. But too damp places still do not suit her. In such areas, when the temperature drops, the plant will suffer, and the yield will decrease.
Another factor that directly affects the volume of the crop is the illumination of the area where the chokeberry is planted. In a shady corner, it bears very poorly. Therefore, if your goal is to get a good harvest, and not a dense hedge, thinning the crown should be performed. When this is not done, the berries are displaced to the periphery of the shrub, and inside the crown they do not ripen.
Chokeberry breeding methods
Chokeberry can be propagated in the garden by scions of shrubs or seeds of berries. For seed propagation, it is necessary to stratify the seed. They start to it immediately after extracting the seeds from the berries, preventing them from drying out. To do this, you need to keep ready, clean, pre-calcined river sand. But since the harvest is harvested in September-October, there is still time to get ready until this moment.
The sand is mixed with the seed in a ratio of 3: 1. Then this mixture is placed in low boxes, laying in a layer of about 5 cm. In this form, they are kept for 3 months at a temperature in the range of + 4 … + 6 ° C. During this time, the seeds should hatch. If this does not happen, then 7 days before the planned sowing date, the boxes are removed to the room and kept at room temperature. It also happens that the seeds begin to hatch earlier. In this case, the temperature regime is regulated - the thermometer should go down to about 0 ° C.
For sowing seeds, they arrange ridges and lay them out in grooves to a depth of about 0.5 cm. Then the crops are mulched. For this, humus or peat is used. The thickness of the mulch layer is no more than 1 cm.
Sowing is carried out thicker, and after the emergence of seedlings they are thinned out. While there is one leaf on the seedlings, a distance of about 2 cm is maintained between them. When the second leaf appears, this distance is increased to 4 cm. The removed senses can be cut out in neighboring beds.
And you can start reproduction by offspring from the mother bush both in autumn and in spring - in May. In the second case, this procedure is carried out simultaneously with the process of forming a bush. When reproduction by offspring is planned for the fall, then in the spring-summer period, make sure that the basal shoots are covered with earth. Then their roots form faster.

Seed Potatoes: Have You Tried To Heal
Why grow potatoes from seed, you ask, when an old proven method - planting a tuber - gives great results? The fact is that potatoes, like any other living organism, accumulate diseases in themselves, which, even despite pickling before planting, are still transmitted to some extent with each new generation during vegetative propagation. This leads to the fact that the variety degenerates, the tubers become smaller, and the yield decreases. Therefore, approximately once every five years, experts recommend
