Healthy, strong and crispy cucumbers are not the dream of any summer resident? Such cucumbers are good in themselves, and in a salad, and for pickling are good! How can you feed this extremely popular crop at the fruiting stage?

If cucumbers grow in a greenhouse

Fruit-bearing cucumbers try to extract the maximum of useful substances from the soil, and if they lack some vital elements, the fruits can grow tasteless and small. In order to avoid such troubles, it is recommended to apply top dressing in a timely manner!

For the first root feeding, you can dissolve a tablespoon of nitrophoska in ten liters of water. And a couple of weeks later, the growing cucumbers will be happy to "feast on" the mullein infusion (for every ten liters of water they take half a liter of mullein). It is not forbidden to add a tablespoon of potassium sulfate to such an infusion - it will not only contribute to the early distribution of valuable nutrient compounds in all parts of the plant, but also make the leaves healthy, beautiful and large, and the roots as strong as possible.

You can also prepare a useful herbal infusion for feeding - it will help not only to start the process of active fruiting, but also to strengthen the immunity of growing crops. For its preparation, well-crushed bluegrass, wormwood, as well as comfrey, nettle with clover and other herbs are placed in a bucket, after which the herbal mixture is poured with warm water and insisted for three days. Then the resulting infusion is filtered and diluted in water at the rate of a liter of infusion for each bucket. This amount of liquid will be enough to water four to five cucumber bushes.

If cucumbers grow outdoors

At the very beginning of fruiting, it is recommended to spray cucumber bushes with a solution of urea (for its preparation, fifty grams of urea are dissolved in ten liters of water) or water with herbal infusion, the recipe for which was given above, in the section on dressings for greenhouse cucumbers - only for cucumbers growing in open ground this solution should be diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 5.

It will not be superfluous to feed the cucumbers with potassium nitrate (25 grams of the product is dissolved in fifteen liters of water). Potassium nitrate is an excellent accelerator of the fruit formation process without excessive green mass build-up.

And everyone who wants to not only feed the cucumbers, but also provide them with reliable protection from a wide variety of ailments, should also pay attention to iodine - thirty to forty drops of this useful substance are dissolved in ten liters of water, after which a liter of whey is added to the mixture. … Everything is mixed well and the cucumber plantings are sprayed with the resulting solution, observing a three-week interval (until the start of harvesting).

What if the leaves turn yellow?

The yellowing of the cucumber leaves is a direct indication that crispy vegetables are not getting enough nutrition. To save the situation, two liters of sour milk or kefir are diluted in a bucket of water, after which all the affected areas are evenly sprayed. And if the yellowness has already managed to spread to the fruits, it is necessary to additionally add urea (for ten liters of water - a tablespoon of urea). You can add twenty drops of iodine to such a solution. Another great option is to feed with ammonia (a teaspoon in a bucket of water).

True, before starting top dressing, it is important to make sure that the yellowing of the cucumber leaves is caused precisely by nutritional deficiencies, and not by such ailments as downy mildew or fusarium wilting (they are also accompanied by yellowing of the leaves).

Are the cucumbers too pale?

And this problem also has a solution! Too pale leaves usually indicate a nitrogen deficiency, respectively, in this case, the cucumbers are fed with urea - to prepare a spray solution, two tablespoons of urea are taken for ten liters of water. It is important to try to spray as long as only the lower leaves remain pale - if the pallor goes higher, the plants will begin to die off and the risk of losing part of the crop is inevitable.

And whitening of fruits usually indicates a lack of potassium - this problem is solved by introducing fifteen grams of potassium sulfate for every square meter of soil. And, of course, with any feeding, it is important not to overdo it - an oversupply of nutrition does not bring anything good either!
