Gatsania is called a multi-colored chamomile, although they have little in common. The only similarity is the shape of the flower. Otherwise, gatsaniya is very different from chamomile. This is a stunted plant. But despite their modest growth, the peduncles are crowned with relatively large flowers - the basket reaches up to 10 cm in diameter. The petals are white, yellow, pink, red, crimson, lilac, monochrome or variegated striped. Flowering continues throughout the summer and until frost. And the most interesting thing about these flowers is that they close in the shade and open up again in the sun
Soil mixture for seedlings
Gatsania is grown through seedlings. If you buy seeds in packages, then be prepared for the fact that there are usually very few of them. And it will be a pity if the precious seed does not come up. Therefore, in the first place, it is extremely important to take care of sowing the seeds in the optimal soil.
The soil mixture for sowing seeds should be light, loose, breathable, moisture-absorbing and soft like cotton wool. To achieve this property, you need to add the following components to the ground:
• sand;
• vermiculite or perlite;
• coconut substrate.
Such earth will not become caked, and even under a finger it will spring like a good pillow. Therefore, the sprout will break through it effortlessly. Moreover, such a composition, despite its looseness and airiness, absorbs moisture well, and for gatsania seeds it is important that the water does not stagnate in the container and at the same time the soil is sufficiently moistened.
Also, it will not be superfluous to mix the soil with ash. This will have a double benefit - prevention of blackleg and fertilization at the same time.
Sowing gatsania seeds
For seeding, you will need a container with drainage holes. The height of the walls of the container is at least 4 cm. It is filled with soil mixture and moistened. It is useful to moisten the earth with a vermicompost solution.
Whether to carry out pre-sowing seed treatment depends on the form in which the manufacturer sells them. When you open the bag and see that the seed is already in the nutritive shell, it makes no sense to additionally treat them with growth stimulants. Well, if the seeds are clean, then it doesn't hurt to treat them with epin. This is both disease prevention and growth stimulant.
Gatsania has medium-sized seeds. But they are not afraid of a small deepening. Therefore, grooves are made for sowing seeds. Seeds are laid out in them, and on top they still need to be slightly sprinkled with earth. And additionally moisten crops abundantly.
Cover the container with a lid or hide in a bag. And put in a warm place.
Seedling picking
Seeds usually germinate on the third to fourth day after sowing. When the second true leaf appears at the seedlings, they are dived from the common container into separate cassettes. From sowing to picking, as a rule, it takes about two weeks.
Before diving, the container with seedlings must be watered. Fill the cassettes with soil mixture and make deep holes. And transplant seedlings into them, deepening the cotyledon leaves. After that, it is advisable to pour them with water and vermicompost.
Transplanted seedlings must be provided with the following conditions:
• daylight hours about 14 hours;
• content temperature + 15 … + 18 ° С.
As the seedlings grow and the soil subsides, add soil to the cassettes. Two weeks later, if the leaves turn pale, feeding is carried out. And the temperature rises to + 18 … + 20 ° С.
Transplant to open ground
Gatsania is transplanted into open ground when the weather is warm. This flower should be placed in open, sunny areas. But it is desirable that there is no bright sun on the day of disembarkation. Or at least shade gatsian for a day or two.
The flower loves nutritious soil. And therefore, it is recommended to add a little compost to the hole when planting in a flower bed. Make the distance between the holes 25-30 cm. And mulch the planting.
Gatsaniya does not require special care. Dried inflorescences need to be cut off in time. And in hot weather, water the flower bed in a day or two.
