Fragrant butene (lat. Chaerophyllum aromaticum) - a herbaceous perennial plant of the Buten genus (Latin Chaerophyllum) belonging to the Umbelliferae family (Latin Umbelliferae), or Celery (Latin Apiaceae). The root of the plant has healing powers and is used by traditional healers to prepare a tincture that helps to cope with diseases of the human digestive organs.
What's in your name
The specific Latin epithet "aromaticum" (fragrant) is assigned to this species for fragrant inflorescences composed of tiny flowers with white petals, attracting various insects, including hardworking bees, collecting nectar from the plant in spring and the first half of summer.
Description
Fragrant buteny is a herbaceous plant with an erect stem that rises to the heavens to a height of half a meter to two meters. The stem loves to branch, and therefore the bush turns out to be powerful, solid and picturesque.
The long-term guarantor of Fragrant Butena is a thick underground rhizome, located in the soil horizontally or slightly in an elevated position. The aboveground part of the plant dying for the winter period is easily restored in spring with new shoots, rapidly increasing in height and spreading out in breadth due to lateral shoots.
The stems of the plant are decorated with intricate leaves. A common compound leaf is formed by several trifoliate leaves. The leaf blade of each single leaf is oblong-oval, with a pointed tip and a jagged edge. The transverse veins, fanning out from the central vein, give the leaf surface softness and graceful bruising. The surface of the leaves may be bare, but more often it is protected by a sparse hairy cover. Long leaf stalks located in the lower part of the stem gradually lose their length, and therefore, closer to the top of the stem, the leaves become sessile. Due to pubescence, the color of the leaves appears to be gray-green.
Typical for plants of the family Umbrella inflorescences are formed by a dozen or a couple of dozen smooth rays, each of which ends with a small inflorescence. Together, they form a lush umbrella-hat of miniature white flowers. The flower petals are obovate and have a smooth white surface.
The culmination of the growing cycle is light brown cylindrical fruits.
