The generally accepted opinion that it is better not to travel to Thailand during the "rainy season" is increasingly refuted by tourists who risked breaking the tradition. The most "rainy" months are September and October. It was in September that the last minute inexpensive tours to Phuket Island turned up, giving a wonderful twelve days, among which only two days were marked by intermittent rains. So believe after that the opinions and views that have developed over the centuries

It is impossible to postpone life

Remember the song "Bad Weather" from the movie about Mary Poppins? It sang that bad weather is not a reason to put off life for "later", waiting for the rain to stop and the sky to be freed from the captivity of gray-black clouds for a long time. It is according to this principle that people live in Thailand - a country that is the only one among the countries of Southeast Asia that has never been anyone's colony.

Moreover, the rain, as a rule, does not pour in a continuous stream all day. He gives respite to heaven, people and streets. Heaven so that they can fill up the clouds that have spilled on the earth; people, so that those who were taken by surprise by the rain can freely reach their destination; streets that turned into stormy streams during a downpour, return to their usual appearance.

Even during a downpour, the life of the streets continues: cars of all stripes are driving, carefully cutting through the water like boats, or arranging high fountains that additionally shower passers-by and the steps of houses. Passers-by walk knee-deep in the water, covering themselves from the angry skies with umbrellas, light transparent raincoats, or even completely ignoring the rain. After all, it's not at all scary to get wet when you are wearing shorts, a T-shirt and slippers, and the air temperature is from twenty-eight to thirty-four degrees. This is not Russian September rain with an air temperature of eight to twelve degrees.

Papaya by the road

At first it seemed to me that the vegetation of the island does not differ much from the vegetation of the Egyptian resort, Hurghada. Multi-colored Bougainvillea, Plumeria, Royal Delonix, Bananas, palms …

That's just, Plumeria is represented here by rather powerful trees, on which I was for the first time able to see the fruits of a plant with a peculiar shape.

The variety of palms is richer here, among which the Coconut palm is the leader. Coconut milk can be enjoyed in any cafe, or even right on the street.

In Hurghada, you will not find the beautiful Papaya, but on the island she flaunts her large carved leaves and bunches of fruits. Papaya trees, rather fragile in appearance, withstand the load of their useful fruits, the taste of which many compare to the taste of melon, calling the plant "Melon tree".

Here is such a low and slender tree found on the side of the street, rising along the slope of the mountain from the beach called "Karon". Usually, more mature plants bear fruit, the trunk of which is more powerful and stronger, and therefore this wild creature of nature bent almost to the ground under the weight of its modest bunch of fruits:

The rain helps the transplanted trees take root better. So, September in Thailand is similar to Russian September, when gardeners replenish their holdings with new seedlings of shrubs and trees, including fruit trees.

We spied on the creation of the new park by chance, having gone by car along a fairly decent highway leading into the tropical jungle, where wild thickets alternated with cultural plantings. For new plantings, both young seedlings and rather adult plants are taken, which are dug up with a large clod of earth, as in this photo:

Especially impressive were the plantations of Hevea, planted in even rows, with blackening cups for collecting latex on the trunks, resembling in their shape the mushrooms parasitizing on Russian trees. Mattresses and pillows are made of latex here, which are famous for their long service life, comfort for the body, as well as healing abilities, and therefore their cost is high.

Summary

If you love to travel, let the rainy season not frighten, but please, because it has its own benefits, advantages, beauty and charm. There is the most delicate sand under your feet, waves rush to the shore with noise, and clouds do not interfere with sunbathing at all. Therefore, we even have to defend ourselves from the sun hiding behind the clouds:).
