In order to preserve the medicinal properties of burdock, it is necessary to properly procure and process raw materials. Recipes for the preparation of decoctions, ointments, tinctures, oils will help to cope with any disease
Procurement of raw materials
All parts of the plant are used as raw materials: leaves, roots, inflorescences, seeds.
Leaves are cut closer to autumn, before digging up the roots. Fresh product is suitable for juicing.
The rest of the above-ground mass is laid out under a canopy for drying. Turn the leaves over several times. Put the linen bags in the closet.
May shoots are considered to be the healthiest. Therefore, the procurement of some of the raw materials is carried out in the spring. At the same time, the output of finished products is lower than in the fall.
Digging up the roots is a very laborious process. They dig into the plant with a shovel from several sides, trying to extract the underground part as much as possible. Rinse thoroughly with water. Use immediately as directed or cut into pieces. Wither in the shade for several days. Then it is dried in the oven at a temperature of 50 degrees with the door ajar.
If necessary, dry roots are ground into powder. Store in glass jars in a dry, dark place.
To increase the terms of consumption of fresh products, some of the raw materials are added with sand, lowered into the cellar, like carrots. In this way, burdocks are kept for no more than 2-3 months.
Flowers are harvested at the moment of the greatest opening of the bud. They are plucked together with chopsticks, tied in bunches and dried in the shade. Seeds are harvested at several times as they ripen.
The shelf life of raw materials is limited by the time period: leaves - 1 year, roots - 5 years, seeds and inflorescences - 3 years.
Preparation of the ointment
The basis of the ointment is ground burdock roots. 40 g of the product is mixed with 0.5 glass of vegetable oil, infused for 2 days. Then boil for 20 minutes in a water bath. Remove from heat, wrap with a blanket. After 3 days, the ointment is ready for use. It perfectly heals ulcers, burns, wounds.
Decoction recipe
Pour 20 g of roots or a tablespoon of dried leaves into a thermos, pour a glass of boiling water. Insist 3 hours.
Instead of a thermos, the mixture is boiled over low heat: roots - 25 minutes, leaves - 10 minutes. They insist on an hour. Filtered, poured into a jar. The finished solution is stored in the refrigerator for no more than 2 days.
Burr oil
Fresh leaves with an amount of 80 g are washed with water, dried slightly with a cloth, and poured with a glass of any vegetable oil. Let it brew for a day. Boil for 15 minutes over low heat. Poured into a thermos. Withstand 5 days. Separate the leaves. The oil is poured into a dark glass dish.
Store in a dark place. The finished product strengthens the hair roots well. It is rubbed with fingertips into the scalp an hour before the bath.
Tincture for alcohol
Fresh, chopped through a meat grinder, peeled burdock roots pour 0.5 liters of vodka or diluted medical alcohol. Insist in a dark place for 1, 5-2 weeks. Squeeze the liquid through cheesecloth. Store in an opaque container.
Instead of roots, you can take sheet raw materials. Collect fresh burdock leaves, rinse well. Grind with a blender. Squeeze out the juice. Mix in equal parts with vodka. Insist 3 weeks. Store in the refrigerator. Instead of a blender, you can run fresh leaves through a juicer.
3 tablespoons of honey per 200 ml of liquid are added to the finished tinctures. Honey mixtures are used for colds, anemia, as a general tonic.
