If it is generally accepted that a theater begins with a hanger, then a house in a village or a summer residence begins with a fence. He not only strictly outlines the property, but also painterly paints a portrait of his master.

Russian village

Hearing the phrase "Russian village", the imagination immediately draws a dirt road on which motley pigs and chickens bathe in dust in the heat, and in a rainy autumn, scolding men in a friendly gang push their vehicles out of the deep and slippery rut.

Further, the eye catches the nearest fence. His fences, lopsided and covered with moss of old age, are kept in an upright-oblique position, as the people say, "on parole." Moreover, dry stems of wormwood and nettle are firmly woven into the structure of the fence and carefully keep it from falling.

The gate creaks melodiously, hanging on one loop and opening the way to the immense world of fields, forests and copses. Such a picture will pinch in the chest, enmesh nostalgia for the past, and involuntary tears glisten on the cheeks. Eh, Russ, you are our Russ!

Modern village

The modern Russian village, together with its fences, can be divided into five types:

1.

Half-empty villages living out their days with rickety huts that have grown into the ground, with dilapidated fence posts, on which you can still see clay milk jugs here and there, warming their sides in the sun. The wattle fence does not protect against other people's raids, does not hide horseradish overgrown with powerful leaves interspersed with nettles of the garden. It reminds psychologically that there is a sovereign territory behind it.

2.

Villages that have not lost their vital energy … Along with the wooden five-walled buildings, there are brick, slag-flooded, concrete houses. And the fences here match the houses. These are wooden one and a half meter, or even two meter fences. The pointed top of the shtaketins turns them into a slender row of "rockets" directed upward, but the transverse bars do not allow them to soar into the blue sky, they are firmly held on the ground, guarding the property.

Brick walls of houses are echoed by brick fences. they can be solid, or thinned out by wood or metal.

There are metal fences welded from a metal rod. Recently, a corrugated profile made of metal or plastic has found wide application for fences. We also include a netting netting stretched on a strong wire or framed by wooden frames to metal fences.

3.

Countryside villages … There are specially designated areas for summer cottages. The fences there are very conventional, lightweight. Sometimes the fence is a strip of densely planted bush. The entire territory is protected by a more impressive fence.

Many village houses began to be used as summer cottages in the spring-summer-autumn season, closing for the winter. It is good if people live in the neighborhood who do not leave their homes in winter. They will also look after the next house. Otherwise, no fence will guarantee against theft and vandalism.

4.

Elite cottage settlements … To help the powerful stone fences, electronic tracking equipment is connected, and even live guards. Such settlements take us back to the Middle Ages, when houses were fortresses. But God also sees behind the fences.

5.

Mixed villages-townships … They are side by side with multi-storey cottages and wooden houses that have grown into the ground, stone fences and dilapidated fence posts. Such a neighborhood does not suit both sides, which periodically provokes "small wars", which tireless journalists are very fond of showing on TV.

We built fences, you can't see the country

“We've built fences, you can't see the country,” said a boy of about eight years old in an excursion bus passing another village “fortified” with fences. In this regard, I recall the story about A. D. Sakharov, who, living in a big city, did not lock the front door. When asked by surprised people, he replied that if someone knocks on the door, he will open it anyway.
