Turcu often also called a water feather. This name is due to the very beautiful feathery leaves of this aquatic plant.

Description of the plant

Turcha is a typical aquatic plant, which is also the closest relative of primroses. This plant belongs to the family called primroses. It is noteworthy that of all thirty genera of this family and more than a thousand species, only a few species of turchi can live in water conditions.

In total, the genus Turcha has two species. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in Europe, North America and Asia Minor. All plants of this genus are endowed with rosettes of very peculiar pinnately spread leaves, which will float freely in the water column. In the summer period, flower stalks will appear from the very center of the outlet, which will rise above the water surface by about fifteen to thirty centimeters. On such peduncles, in the form of whorls, flowers will sit, which very much resemble the inflorescences of primroses from Japan.

During the flowering period, this plant will be located very close to the surface of the water, however, after the end of such a period, the plant descends much deeper. The very ripening of the fruit-boxes, in which there are numerous seeds, will take place under water. In the autumn period of time, the leaves of the turchi will die off, and the plant spends the winter as buds, which are at the very bottom of the reservoir.

Description of turchi marsh

In Latin, turcha marsh is called as follows: Hottonia palustris. This plant is found both in lakes and ponds throughout Europe. The leaves of the plant will be whorled, they are painted in bright green tones, and are also comb-like pinnately dissected into peculiar narrow, sharp and linear slices, which will be naked and they will reach about eight to twenty centimeters in length. The turchi marsh peduncle is single and straight, which is capable of reaching a height of forty-five to sixty centimeters. The inflorescence of the plant is racemose, it consists of three to ten whorls of flowers. There are about three to six flowers in the whorls of flowers, these flowers are rather large and dimorphic. The calyx of the plant is five-part, it has slightly pointed lobes. The turchi rim is wheel-shaped, endowed with a short tube. As for the flowers, they can be both white and pink, and lilac, and in the throat these flowers are yellow. This plant blooms from May to June.

A plant such as turkey swollen is a tropical plant species that occurs naturally in North America. This plant is intended for aquariums. The swollen turkey owes its name to the presence of swollen internodes on the peduncles. The flowers of this plant themselves are painted in white tones. Such a plant is not able to withstand the winter period of time in Central Russia.

Features of care and cultivation of turchi

The plant is most preferable to small thickets in shallow waters of both ponds and lakes. As for water, calm, stagnant water is considered more favorable for turchi. This plant is able to develop equally both in the light and in partial shade.

Plant propagation occurs through seeds or cuttings. Cuttings can be separated from turchi throughout the summer. Turcha will be an excellent decoration for a reservoir: this plant goes well with the vast majority of aquatic and coastal plant species. Thanks to the beautiful flowers and bright green leaves, the pond in which the turcha is located looks very bright and original. It is noteworthy that at the same time, turchi leaves are also able to significantly purify water.
