Near the bases, the leaf blades gradually narrow, and towards the apex they are slightly pointed.
The slender peduncles of this plant grow up to thirty centimeters in height, and its luxurious inflorescences vaguely resemble calla inflorescences and are characterized by a very fetid odor - because of this, the beautiful plant is often called yellow or western skunk cabbage. The bedspreads of inflorescences, painted in juicy yellow tones, grow from four to six centimeters in width and from twenty to twenty-five centimeters in length. As soon as the American lysichiton fades, these covers dry up instantly and fall off almost immediately. No wonder the name of this plant, translated from Greek, sounds like "a drying cloak".
The diameter of the green ears of this extremely attractive plant is about two centimeters, and in length they often grow up to fifteen centimeters. As for the fruits, they look like small green berries. Lysichiton American usually blooms in May.
Where grows
Lysichiton American grows mainly in the open marshes of the temperate zones, ranging from Alaska to western North America. This spectacular handsome man feels especially well in swamps and shallow ponds.
