Mnogoryadnik (lat. Polystichum) - a spectacular perennial fern from the Shchitovnik family. The second name is multi-tiered.
Description
The mnogoryadnik is a moisture-loving and shade-tolerant forest evergreen fern, equipped with rather thick short rhizomes and dense dark green foliage. The height of low varieties usually ranges from ten centimeters to half a meter, while in medium varieties it can vary from half a meter to a meter.
The ripening of the spores of the mnogoryadnik occurs on the lower sides of its feathery leaves, in special sections called soruses. Vayi mnogoryadnika are equipped with corymbose induces, and their karyotype is formed by 82 or 164 chromosomes.
In total, the genus mnogoryadnik has from one hundred seventy five to five hundred species (in different sources, these data differ significantly).
Where grows
In general, mnogoryadnik is quite widespread throughout the globe, especially in subtropical and temperate regions. It can be seen in North America, Eastern Europe, and even Scandinavia. About fifteen varieties of the mnogoryadnik grow in Canada and the United States, another sixteen species in Africa, twelve in Australia, eight in Madagascar, four in Europe and three in Macronesia. In Eurasia, this fern is found mainly in Vietnam, Japan, the Himalayas and China, and on the territory of Russia it is really possible to meet the multiforme mainly on rocks or in forests (deciduous or coniferous).
Usage
Some varieties of mnogoryadnik are very successfully used as ornamental plants, both in greenhouses and in the open field.
Quite often, the mnogoryadnik is grown at home, right in pots - it is very appreciated for its unpretentiousness, ease of care and ability to maintain its decorative effect for several decades.
Growing and caring
The multi-rower is surprisingly shade-tolerant. It will thrive on moist, fairly loose, light, nutritious and well-drained soils. The multi-row grower responds especially well to sod and leaf mixtures with the addition of sand. The lighting for him needs very good, and for the winter this amazing fern will need a reliable shelter.
In the warm season, the multi-rower should be watered regularly and abundantly, and the water for irrigation should be soft and well-separated (rainwater will be especially suitable in this case). In addition, when hot weather is established, the multi-rower will also need daily spraying. And with the onset of winter, watering reduces and transfers the fern to rooms, the temperature in which is in the range from thirteen to sixteen degrees. At the same time, it is extremely important to ensure that the plant does not have too sharp temperature changes and drafts - both have a detrimental effect on the multi-row.
The handsome multi-rower will not refuse feeding either: about once a month he is fed with good liquid complex fertilizers.
The mnogoryadnik is usually propagated either by rhizomes or by spores - both methods give very good results, so you can safely choose the most convenient option for yourself.
Of the pests, thrips (both decorative and common), flying whiteflies, as well as scale insects and scale insects can attack. In addition, excessive dryness may be fraught with yellowing of the leaves with their subsequent withering away, and excessive waterlogging can provoke decay of the roots.

Fern Garden: Bristle-bearing Mnogoryadnik
The multi-row bristle is also called the multi-row bristle or the angular multi-row. He came to us from the Caucasus and from the beech forests of Europe. It is a perennial openwork evergreen plant, up to 100 centimeters high, with reduced winter hardiness. The leaves are dark green, large, serrated, with bristles along the edges of the denticles, "sit" on small cuttings. A small clarification: in central Russia, the leaves of this fern may die off for the winter
