Amateurs - gardeners know that vines can decorate any corner of the site and disguise unattractive places. With the help of these plants, you can create cozy secluded corners in which it will be pleasant to relax in the heat. Today we will talk about annual vines, which can be changed every year and thereby alter our garden
Sweet pea
This plant can reach 3 meters in height, clinging to various supports with small tendrils. The leaves have a bluish-greenish color, which in itself is already quite beautiful. On the peduncles, up to six large flowers flaunt in the form of fluttering butterflies and having a wide variety of colors, not only monochromatic, but also two-colored. But most of all, this plant is attracted by the delicate aroma that envelops the gazebo or bench hidden in the shade of this vine.
In order for the plant to bloom longer, it is necessary to remove the wilted peduncles in time, preventing the seeds from appearing. Sweet peas can be planted in early spring, as they easily tolerate changes in air temperature, up to minus five degrees.
Morning glory (Bindweed)
In our latitudes, 2 types of morning glory are most often found: red-blue and purple. Both species have funnel-shaped flowers and heart-shaped leaves. During the flowering period, the foliage is practically hidden under the abundance of flowers, since they cover the entire stem.
Ipomoea purple blooms in blue, purple and white. But flowers can be enjoyed only early in the morning (6-11 am), then they wither. Fresh flowers appear the next day.
Ipomoea red and blue is even more interesting. Its delicate blue flowers reach a diameter of 10 cm, and flowering continues until three in the afternoon.
Kvamoklis
This plant has a very unusual appearance. Its leaves are feathery, reminiscent of coniferous paws. And the bright red flowers are very similar to stars. Since the plant is thermophilic, it is best to grow it in a flowerpot and place the grown plant near the entrance to the gazebo or veranda. In this case, you need to think about what support this vine will have. It is better not to plant any other plants nearby, as it alone will serve as a bright exotic decoration.
Curly nasturtium
This vine in favorable conditions can reach a height of 4 meters. The leaves are rounded and the flowers look like bells with spurs. They can be of a wide variety of bright colors: from different shades of yellow to purple and cherry. The subtle scent attracts many insects. Delicate stems must be tied up so that they do not break. There are also ampelous varieties of nasturtium, they can also decorate flower beds, and the seeds of this plant are pickled. These are the so-called capers.
Decorative pumpkin
This liana, reaching a height of 4 meters, is most often grown for the sake of small fruits - pumpkins, which can have various shapes: flattened, spherical or elongated. Very often they resemble pears, bottles, tangerines, striped watermelons, the surface of which can be smooth or covered with growths in the form of warts. These fruits can be dried and used in decorative compositions, as they are stored for up to three years.
Ornamental beans
The thin stems of this plant can reach a height of 4 meters. The trifoliate leaves are deep green in color. Flowers are collected in clusters and have a bright red color. When fruits appear - pods, they also serve as a kind of decoration for this vine. But, as a rule, they are not edible, but have a decorative value.
Echinocystis (prickly fruit)
This vine is fast-growing: by the end of the first summer month, it creates a green curtain of two meters. The stem is covered with an abundance of small cream-colored flowers, collected in inflorescences that resemble candles. The fruits appear in July. They look like small prickly cucumbers, which served as the second name. Unlike other vines, the prickly plant is unpretentious and can quickly tighten an old fence or shed wall. It only needs to be watered in extreme heat.
Growing and caring for vines
All of the above plants are thermophilic and love sunlight. They need a well-fertilized land, since fast growth and abundant flowering requires a lot of nutrients.
In mid-latitudes, these vines are grown in seedlings to speed up the development of flowers. They are planted in a permanent place with an interval of 15 cm between plantings and during the entire period of development they loosen the soil well. All of these vines can be combined with each other, and the variety of colors will only further decorate your decorative walls.
