Plantain and calendula are two unpretentious plants with medicinal properties, the cultivation of which is not difficult, but their usefulness is great

Plantain

Plantain grows more often along roads (which, in fact, is clear from its name). At the dacha (personal plot, vegetable garden), it is desirable to have 2-3 bushes of this plant. It is completely undemanding to care for, grows on any soil.

How to grow? Plantain needs very little: a little space, periodic, not very plentiful watering, and infrequent weeding.

What is plantain for? Even the smallest leaf of this plant will perfectly stop the blood and disinfect the wound, this is the best substitute for a plaster, hemostatic and disinfectant.

How to use? Rinse the leaf and apply to the wound (cut). Hold until bleeding stops.

Calendula

This bright flower will not only serve as a flower bed decoration, but will also perfectly help to strengthen health and cope with some ailments.

How to grow? It is advisable to prepare the soil before planting. How? For the best growth of our medicinal herb in the ground, before digging, you need to add humus in an amount of about 4 kilograms per 1 square meter. Alternatively, you can apply some fertilizers such as urea or superphosphate. But their number should not exceed 1 tablespoon per 1 square meter. Then dig up the soil, break up the lumps well, loosen thoroughly so that the earth is "light". Calendula is planted with seeds or seedlings, marigold seedlings take root well in the soil. By the way, neither seeds nor seedlings are afraid of spring and autumn frosts, since this plant can easily withstand temperatures up to minus five degrees. Seeds need to be embedded in the soil to a depth of 1-2 centimeters, no more. The first shoots will appear in just 7-10 days.

Watering is enough once a week. If the summer is dry, then the plants need more frequent watering, about 2-3 times a week.

To obtain abundant and long-lasting flowering, all faded inflorescences must be carefully trimmed.

When and how to collect? For medicinal purposes, we only need calendula flowers (by the way, calendula popularly has another name - marigold), the marigold blooms for a very long time, from May to September, you can harvest raw materials at any time during this period.

How to procure? Carefully collected (cut) calendula flowers need to be spread in a thin layer on paper in the shade or in a well-ventilated area; an attic is perfect for this purpose. During drying it is necessary to periodically "stir up" the drying raw material so that it does not begin to become covered with mold.

We collect the dried flowers and store them either in a tight-fitting glass jar or in a linen bag in a cool dry place.

How to apply? Calendula flowers have excellent wound healing, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

If you have a sore throat or persistent sore throats or stomatitis, then this recipe will come in handy: pour 1 tablespoon of calendula flowers with one glass of boiling water, cool to about 35 degrees, strain and gargle with infusion.

In addition to rinsing, the above infusion can be used orally to treat stomach and duodenal ulcers. In addition, calendula flowers have a calming effect, which helps with neuroses and palpitations.

This same infusion is great for helping to cope with acne and pimples. It is enough to wipe your face with cotton wool or a piece of soft cloth soaked in infusion 2-3 times a day.

For non-healing wounds, ulcers on the skin, lotions are made from the infusion of calendula flowers. To obtain this medicinal infusion, one tablespoon of crushed calendula flowers is poured with a glass of diluted alcohol or vodka, then it is allowed to brew for a week, after which everything is ready for use.

Calendula tea is also very useful, it can be given even to children. It helps with diathesis, ulcers, gastritis (currently a very common disease among children), hypertension and atherosclerosis.
