The Colorado potato beetle is a dangerous enemy not only of potatoes, but also of a number of other garden crops. It is very important to start the fight against it on time, otherwise a crop thoroughly spoiled by these beetles will definitely not please, because a female pest can produce about 500 - 600 eggs in just one clutch
Folk ways
Coniferous sawdust. When planting garden crops, you can add a little chopped bark of coniferous trees or coniferous sawdust to all holes.
Onion peel. The onion husk, which begins to rot, is excellent for fighting Colorado beetles, because the beetles do not tolerate its smell. They will never bury themselves on plants with rotting onion husks lying next to them. To obtain such a result, it is enough to add a small amount of this miracle remedy to each well during planting.
Wood ash. If you dust the dug holes with ash when planting all kinds of crops, you can achieve a pretty good result. Spraying plants with ash infusion will be no less effective - first, 2 kg of ash are stirred in 10 liters of water, after which 1 liter of the initially prepared solution is diluted in another 10 liters of water.
Burdock infusion. Burdock (more precisely, its leaves) are finely cut, then 1/3 of a bucket of raw materials, filled with water, is insisted for two to three days, and then filtered.
Infusion of poplar leaves. Pour half a bucket of poplar leaves with water and boil for a quarter of an hour, then dilute up to 10 liters with water, leave for 3-4 days and drain.
Hemlock infusion. This infusion plant can be either fresh or dried. 1 kg of hemlock should be poured with 10 liters of warm water. Having infused the raw materials for two to three days and straining it, add 40 g of laundry soap.
Infusion of tobacco. You will need a pound of tobacco dust, as well as roots and stems of tobacco, 10 liters of water and 40 g of laundry soap. The tobacco dust and its roots with stems are insisted for 2 - 3 days, flooded with water, then they are filtered, and only then they are put into the finished infusion of laundry soap.
Infusion of honeysuckle. Thoroughly dried stems and leaves (1 kg) are poured with 10 liters of water, for a day or two they insist, filter and, like in previous infusions, add laundry soap (in an amount of 40 g).
It is good to spray plants in calm and relatively warm weather (ideally - 18 - 22 degrees). The procedure is carried out either in the evening before the formation of dew, or in the morning, but after it dries up - this is due to the fact that the insecticidal properties of infusions in the sun are noticeably reduced. Such treatments are usually repeated every 5 to 10 days, and the final spraying is organized no later than 3 weeks before harvest. Laundry detergent or soap is added to working broths intended for spraying and prepared 1 - 3 hours before their use - in this case, the liquid will not roll off the surface of the leaves after processing them, since these agents act as so-called adhesives.
Colorado potato beetle traps
They take a broom and a zinc bucket, at the bottom of which salt water is poured (a fairly strong solution). Approaching the plants, the bucket is placed under the leaves and not very hard, but quite bitingly, they begin to hit them. Beetles will crumble into the bucket. Then they proceed with the harvested "crop" at their own discretion.
You can also stack potato peel piles next to the potato beds (a small bucket of peel buckets will suffice for each pile). As a rule, such simple traps attract a myriad of beetles. Subsequently, they are burned, pre-watered with kerosene.
Tin cans are also good traps. Alternatively, glass jars are also suitable. The edges of all the jars should be grated with potato juice, and a few potato slices should be thrown onto their bottoms. All traps are placed on the site: for 5 square meters - one jar each. You should try to destroy pests in this way every day.
In the spring, during the period of active reproduction of pests, about 1 kg of potatoes cut into slices are soaked in a urea solution (the stronger it is, the better: a glass of urea is usually taken for 2 liters of water). The mixture is infused for 1 - 2 days, closing it with a lid. Then the bait is laid out on cans, which are placed between the potato rows. It is best to carry out this procedure in the evening - the very next day, the beetles that have tasted the "treat" will lie upside down. Repeat the procedure every week. It will be effective in the fall, after harvesting, in order to destroy insects that are going to lie down for the winter. Lures with chlorophos and karbofos are no less effective.
Distracting landings
As soon as the young potatoes rise and grow slightly (this usually happens closer to the middle of summer), old tubers are planted near the potato beds. When tender shoots appear from them, on the main plantings the tops will already become quite dense. And the pests that have moved to the tender shoots are much easier to destroy.

Ways To Deal With The Bread Beetle
The bread beetle, also called the Kuzka beetle, knocks out hard grains onto the ground and eats away grains of cereals during their milky ripeness, thereby causing serious damage to the crop. Most of all harm from it in the steppes and southern forest-steppe. Barley, rye, wheat, grains of wild cereals are the favorite food of bread beetles. The Indestructible Colorado Potato Beetle
