Dill pests - such a plant will have to face not only various diseases, but also a number of pests that can cause enormous harm to the plant. Proper care and taking timely measures will allow you to get a decent harvest of dill.

The first important pest is the umbrella moth. Such a parasite is capable of doing great harm to the plant, almost completely solving you harvest. Caterpillars will eat both flowers and buds, and they also have the ability to gnaw through pedicels and significantly harm leaves and inflorescences. A particular danger occurs during the period of July, and after a month the caterpillars will pupate. In order to avoid the appearance of such a pest, weeds should be mowed in a timely manner, as well as plant residues should be destroyed. When buds appear, the plant should be sprayed with dendrobacillin, entobacterin and lepidocide.

A pest such as carrot or willow-carrot aphid, despite its name, will damage dill to a large extent, not carrots. Those leaves on which there is this pest begin to change their shape and curl, when touched they seem very sticky and unpleasant to the touch. In the event that a willow grows next to your garden, then there is a high risk of an attack by a willow-carrot aphid. Many gardeners prefer to fight aphids exclusively with folk remedies. The following methods are suitable for this: decoction and infusion of black henbane, white mustard, potatoes, chilli, garlic or onions. In the event that the pest has already spread en masse, the plant should be sprayed with karbofos.

It should be noted that during the spring sowing of this culture, a very developed vegetative mass will form. This circumstance is due to the fact that the optimal temperature for the growth of dill is 16-18 degrees Celsius. High temperatures can adversely affect the final yield. Especially at high temperatures, dill will be susceptible to various pests. Therefore, timely measures should be taken that will allow you to get not only a high-quality harvest, but also an environmentally friendly one.

The main preventive method for pest control should be the regular destruction of plant residues, as well as a very thorough preparation of dill seeds for sowing. As for agrotechnical control measures, then a competent alternation of crops should be carried out: crop rotation should become the norm for any plant. You should also strictly follow all recommendations for the care of the crop, it is necessary to create the right conditions for both growth and the subsequent development of plants. Annual and biennial umbrella plants are recommended to be placed in remote areas. In addition, it is very important to remove weeds near the crops of this crop.

As for the isolation of dill crops from aphids, then this plant should be covered with a thin and non-woven material. For this purpose, agrofibre, fleece and agril are suitable. In the event that you notice aphids on your crop, it is recommended to wash off the pest from the dill with a very strong water jet. Thus, the parasite will be on the ground, where it will soon die. In addition, phosphorus-potassium supplements are very important. This solution is prepared in the following way: ten liters of water are taken for twenty grams of superphosphate and ten grams of potassium chloride.

Wood ash will also help get rid of such a pest. For this purpose, you will need to take a two-day infusion of wood ash: at the rate of three kilograms per ten liters of water, add a tablespoon of liquid soap to this mixture. A week after applying this method, you will have to rinse the plants with clean water.
