A mini-garden helps to solve the problem of six acres. If there is no room for beds, and there is a desire to grow your own vegetables, use effective methods. Read on to learn how to grow cucumbers in a small area and get good yields

Growing cucumbers on a trellis

Economical use of space allows vertical cultivation of cucumbers. Melons, which include cucumber, have long stems (3-5 m), spreading along the ground in all directions.

The minimum space will be occupied by plantings, the growth of which is directed upward. Growing cucumbers on a trellis means tying lashes to a support. The design is done for one or more plants. The advantages of vertical cultivation:

• saving space;

• ease of maintenance;

• good lighting;

• possibility of irrigation;

• purity of fruits, ease of collection.

Features of trellis cultivation are in the creation of a structure. It is advisable to make a portable support so as not to create a new one when changing a place. Racks are placed in 50 cm increments, 120-180 high. If several bushes are planted, then a wire in 3 rows or a garden mesh with large cells (18x15) is pulled between the posts.

In the process of growth, the stem rushes up and is independently held by the antennae for the guides. Our task is to prevent the fall of the whip, to additionally fix the escape with a twine and to collect the zelents in a timely manner.

Growing cucumbers in a barrel

The popularity of container plantings extends to all types of flowers and vegetables. Cucumbers grow better in a barrel than in a garden bed, I will name the advantages of such cultivation:

• mobility of the "bed";

• minimum labor costs;

• saving space;

• good heating of the soil;

• easy care;

• clean fruits;

• convenient collection.

In a barrel, hybrids or early ripening varieties grow better: Ekol F1; Muromsky; Bianca F1; Othello F1; Marinda F1; Pace; Connie F1; Masha F1 and others.

When choosing a barrel growing method, preliminary preparation is required. To create fertile soil, work begins in the fall or 2-3 weeks before planting. Holes are made in the container for the outflow of excess moisture. Plant residues (grass, leaves, food waste) are placed on the bottom. Multiple layers of rotten manure / compost are created. This fills the entire barrel.

To speed up fermentation, the entire mass is spilled with EM preparations, hot water and covered with polyethylene. Aged under the film for 7-10 days. After shrinkage, another 1-2 layers are added, with the repetition of the procedure, or fertile soil is poured. The barrel should be ready by the beginning of May.

To retain heat and create a greenhouse effect, a wire frame is installed to cover it with polyethylene. Over time, the soil will shrink, the installed wire will serve as a support for the shoots and will hold the whips above the surface. As it grows, the green mass will come out of the edges and hang down on the sides of the barrel.

Growing cucumbers in bags

The method requires thorough preparation of soft containers. Large bags made of polypropylene fibers are used in the form of a landing container. This option is mobile, easy to care for, promotes early ripening, saves space. The best bag would be a bag that sells sugar / flour (at least 50 kg).

Tank filling: the lower part (one third) consists of drainage - filled with hay, grass, not rotted compost. The rest of the volume consists of a nutrient mixture (rotten manure, compost, fertile soil) + complex fertilizers. On top of the garden loose earth (15-20 cm). The free edge turns away to form a side.

Before planting, in the middle of the bag, to the very bottom, a pole (1, 5-2 m) is installed. A twine (cord, rope) is tied to the upper end to hold the lashes. If 3 plants are planted, then one guide is needed for each.

Watering in the usual way can lead to waterlogging and root rot. Vertically stuck plastic tubes help to eliminate this moment. Holes are made in them along the entire length (in a checkerboard pattern), then they are distributed around the central stake - this is an irrigation system. Liquid dressings are also applied through hollow tubes. In one barrel, in a bag, no more than 3 cucumber bushes can be grown.
