The prostrate bedstraw is a perennial herb that will fluctuate in height between twenty and one hundred centimeters. For growth, the bedstraw prefers rocks, dry steppe, stony and gravelly slopes, river floodplains, forests, clearings, steppes, glades, chalk outcrops, forest edges, and also grows as a weed plant near roads, in fields, fallow lands and garbage places, starting from the lowland and ending with the mid-mountain belt. It should be noted that the prostrate bedstraw is an ornamental plant and will also be cultivated as a pasture plant.

Description of the medicinal properties of the prostrate bedstraw

The prostrate bedstraw is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the rhizome and grass of this plant for medicinal purposes. Grass includes flowers, stems and leaves.

The presence of such valuable medicinal properties is recommended to be explained by the content of anthraquinones and tannins in the rhizome of this plant. In the grass of the prostrate bedstraw, phenol carboxylic acids and their derivatives, iridoids, vitamin C and flavonoids will be present.

As for traditional medicine, here this plant is very widespread. A decoction prepared on the basis of the bedstraw rhizomes is recommended for use in case of jaundice. A ten percent infusion in the experiment showed the manifestation of weak diuretic properties. As a wound healing agent, it is recommended to use crushed fresh grass of a bedstraw in the form of a powder.

A decoction based on the herb of this plant is indicated for use in enterocolitis and diarrhea. Infusion, decoction and liquid alcoholic extract will inhibit cardiac activity, and such healing agents in the experiment also showed a cardiotonic effect. Excite the respiratory center, as well as exhibit distinct hypotensive properties, will be a liquid alcohol and a ten percent solution of the amounts of resinous substances.

For jaundice, it is recommended to use the following very effective remedy based on this plant: for the preparation of such a healing remedy, you should take one tablespoon of chopped bedstraw rhizomes spread over one glass of water. The resulting mixture should be boiled over a fairly low heat for about four to five minutes, and then this mixture is left to infuse for one hour, after which such a healing mixture based on this plant is filtered very carefully. Take such a healing agent two to four times a day, one or two tablespoons. It should be noted that with proper application and competent use, such a healing agent based on a prostrate bedstraw will be very effective.
