What protective equipment does a summer resident need?

Every summer resident knows very well how much he has to do on the site - to dig up the soil, spray plants against various diseases and pests, apply fertilizers, repair a house or a shed. And this is far from an exhaustive list of possible summer cottage work! But many of them can lead to injuries, burns and a number of other troubles! However, all this can be solved - to protect yourself from such incidents, special personal protective equipment will help, which must certainly be in the arsenal of every summer resident

Respirator

It will help protect the body from the harmful effects of various substances suspended in the air. Modern respirators provide reliable protection of the respiratory organs from aerosols, dust, as well as from such unsafe gaseous compounds such as gasoline, solvent or alcohol vapors. Currently, two main types of respirators are manufactured: half masks equipped with a filter element and models equipped with both a filter element and a special breathing valve.

If you classify filtering half masks by permeability, it is customary to distinguish three classes: FFP 1, FFP 2 and FFP 3. And if half masks of class FFP 1 can hold only non-toxic dust, then models of class FFP 3 easily filter out even bacteria! However, they are completely powerless against gases or vapors. Half masks of the FFP 2 class, characterized by medium efficiency, provide protection against fine aerosols, both liquid and solid. If you have to work with varnishes, adhesives or wood protection products, it is best to give preference to special models marked A.

Special protective clothing

It is customary to refer to this as a special protective overalls - it will reliably protect the body from dirt or harmful substances that fall on it, and its loose fit will not hinder freedom of movement at all, which very favorably distinguishes such a thing from old jeans or from any other used everyday clothes … Numerous strips and pockets will allow you to always have at hand both various tools and a wide variety of small parts. The only thing to remember is that too loose clothing will not be the best option for working with machines or machines. It is especially important that it fits as tightly as possible to the hands, otherwise the clothes can easily be pulled into the working mechanisms.

Gloves

Since the hands are most often injured, it is imperative to take care of the availability of good work gloves. The most important thing is that they fit strictly in size and in no case be large! And, of course, they must fully and completely correspond to their purpose - if it is recommended to purchase butyl gloves to protect against all sorts of corrosive liquids (gasoline, acetone, alkalis or acids), then to securely hold various smooth objects in your hands, it is better to buy gloves with special rubber pimples. Now it will not be difficult to purchase protective gloves from any material and absolutely for any purpose, and they are not so expensive, so you should not refuse to use them!

Earplugs and headphones

They perfectly protect against noise, so that during various noisy works it will not hurt to provide reliable protection to the hearing organs as well! At the same time, both earplugs and headphones have both certain advantages and some disadvantages. Headphones, for example, are easy and quick to put on and take off, but the ears under them often sweat a lot. And earplugs are endowed with the ability to more evenly lower the volume of various sounds!

Helmet

With its help, you can protect your head from the adverse effects of metal splashes, electric current or moisture, in addition, the helmet perfectly protects the upper part of the head from possible damage as a result of falling of a wide variety of objects. And it also perfectly saves from accidental head hits on any fixed parts and objects! And a special "shock absorber" built into the helmet, which is superbly springy, provides such an action!

Glasses

They can be both open and closed. Open models are able to protect the eyes only in the frontal plane, and closed glasses will reliably protect the eyes from even the smallest dust, because they are equipped with special cuff-eyecups that ensure a snug fit of the glasses from all sides. These eyecups can be made of either plastic or leather - the second option, of course, will be softer and much more pleasant. But in such glasses, unlike open models, lenses often fog up very much, and this fact should not be discounted either. So if you want to buy closed glasses, and at the same time you want the lenses not to fog up, it makes sense to turn your attention to models with special ventilation holes and with a special coating that does not allow the lenses to fog up for too long.

Shoes

Do not forget about the protection of the legs - during some work, it is also far from the last meaning! Special safety shoes boast that they are completely non-slippery, very stable, and also have quite good shock-absorbing properties and resistance to all kinds of acids, fats and oils. Moreover, there are even special anti-puncture shoes equipped with durable composite insoles! And to protect the toes, many models of safety shoes are also equipped with solid toes, which can be made of both special composite materials and metal!
