Fatshedera (lat. Fatshedera) - a unique fast-growing plant of its kind, obtained in France in 1912 as a result of crossing hedera, that is, common ivy, with Japanese fatsia.
Description
Fatskhedera is an evergreen liana, the length of woody shoots which can reach five meters. Initially, its shoots grow upwards - they begin to creep only after some time.
The diameter of large palmate or trifoliate leaves of this plant often reaches thirty centimeters. All of them are leathery and painted in rich dark green tones, and in shape these leaves are somewhat reminiscent of maple leaves. And the pretty yellowish-greenish flowers of the Fatskhedera gather in spherical umbrellas or in attractive panicle inflorescences, the length of which easily reaches fifteen centimeters.

Usage
Fatshedera is the most ideal indoor culture: it boasts truly incredible vitality and relative unpretentiousness in care, which is why even novice plant breeders acquire it with great pleasure.
Fatshedera is especially widely used in compositions for winter gardens, as well as in vertical landscaping of balconies and terraces. By the way, in areas with a fairly mild winter, this plant may well grow on the street.
For rooms, it is best to choose variegated varieties of fatsheders, since they are much more decorative and grow much slower. However, in this case, it is important to take into account that such varieties are characterized by high light-requiring.
Growing and caring
Fatskheder can be safely placed on any window, including the northern windows. Nevertheless, one should not discount the fact that this plant will develop best of all on the eastern or western windows. Fatskhedera grows with equal success both in bright light and in low shade. Moreover, it tolerates a wide variety of care disadvantages quite well: dust, dry air, as well as short daylight hours in winter.
The temperature of the content of fatshedera in summer and spring should be in the range from twenty to twenty-four degrees, and in winter, it can be limited to the range from ten to twelve degrees. The main thing is to provide this beauty with excellent lighting in winter.
Water the Fatshedera abundantly, in addition, she will be very grateful for regular spraying. And in hot weather it will not hurt to carry out sprinkling in the shower. As for dressings, they are usually carried out twice a month (only in summer and spring). In addition, in the summer it is recommended to periodically take out the fatshedera in partial shade to fresh air.
A young fatshedera is transplanted every year with the onset of spring, and for this purpose it is necessary to take sufficiently spacious containers. And adult plants can be transplanted once every two or even three years (either in September or in spring). As for the soil mixture, ideally it should be formed by two types of land: leaf and turf, as well as sand (all components are taken in equal proportions).
Reproduction of fatshedera occurs by apical cuttings. Small wooden sticks are used to support its shoots. If you want a beautiful plant to always bush, it is necessary to systematically pinch its shoots.
With regard to pest damage, from time to time the fatshedera can be attacked by worms and spider mites.
