Wasabi has been used as a spice in Japan for eight hundred years. At first, it was applied only within this country. But now wasabi has spread all over the world. Many dishes are seasoned with Japanese horseradish for flavor, pungency and flavor. The pungent-tasting roots of the plant immediately became popular in cooking and were used as a fragrant and tangy condiment for many dishes. In general, the Japanese root has a lot of positive features and useful qualities. Also, with its help, you can cure various diseases.
Japanese Eutrem and its features
In science, Japanese eutreme is called a variety of terms. According to one of the classifications, it is considered a representative of the Cabbage family (Cruciferous). In some cases, eutreme gets the name of green mustard, since its taste is really similar to a similar ingredient. Now eutrem is in the Red Book of the Russian Federation.
Eutremus japonica is a representative of a perennial herbaceous plant. It reaches a height of up to half a meter. The stalk of Japanese horseradish has a straight structure and a green tint. The leaves are heart-shaped and are also green in color. The specific root system has in its structure the main rhizome and additional adventitious root processes. Wasabi has a pleasant aroma and contains a lot of essential oils. The aroma of wasabi is similar to that of ordinary horseradish.
Eutremus japonica and the environment
In general, Japanese eutreme is a rather demanding and capricious plant in matters of growing. The root system of the plant is very fond of the icy streams of mountain waters. At the same time, the terrestrial part of the culture cannot grow in a cool and harsh climate. In the temperate and southern regions, Eutreme feels most comfortable and cozy. All year round, in such regions, the temperature should vary between seven and twenty-two degrees. In nature, Japanese horseradish grows best in the shade of tall trees. At the same time, the air humidity should also be increased. In the case of very dense plantings, Japanese horseradish is susceptible to fungal diseases. In a temperate climatic zone, it is possible to create the conditions necessary for eutremia with greenhouse cultivation. In hot countries and regions, it is possible to grow wasabi outdoors as well. However, here it is necessary to shelter the eutrem from direct and hot rays of the sun.
The soil
Often, eutreme is grown in areas with fluctuations and changes in temperature. Therefore, it is best to protect the soil where wasabi is grown in advance. For these purposes, it is required to select an area inside the greenhouse structure where sandy soil is placed, but with a large volume of organic components. For five parts of sand and gravel, add three parts of sod land, two parts of leafy soil and one part of compost or humus. All this mixture must be thoroughly mixed.
You also need to check the acidity level. The resulting soil must be placed in the selected area. Next, you need to check the drainage conditions and the rate of moisture absorption. To do this, you should thoroughly water the soil and see how quickly the water will go deep into the soil. There should be no dirt and slush on the surface. Then the soil will be prepared correctly.
For the normal development of eutreme, the gardener needs to add ammonium sulfate in the amount of thirty grams per square meter of plantings when feeding or digging the soil. Also nitroammophoska can be used in the same amount.
