This year, Date palms growing along the highway in the Egyptian resort city of Hurghada delighted me with their yield. About three years ago, they modestly decorated the roadside with their slender trunks and feathery crown. The fruits then were not visible on them. Apparently, the time has come for fruiting, and therefore a trip by car along the very edge of mysterious Africa has become brighter and more picturesque
It is clear that no one gathers these beautiful bunches of dates to satisfy their hunger with the "bread of the desert". For food Date palms are grown on plantations located away from highways and city dust. Bright dates hang for a long time under a spreading picturesque crown, encircling the trunk, strong and prickly from the leaves that have outlived their life.
Date palms are dioecious plants. However, females do not torment themselves with the search for the only and irresistible companion in life, but are content with one male per "team", consisting of twenty, or even one hundred female trees. Apparently, following the example of the Date Palm, the Islamic religion allows polygamy. As the saying goes: "With whom you will lead …".
Females of the Date palm begin to bear fruit from ten to fifteen years of age, the most suitable age is to decorate yourself with a bright necklace. So slender trees are in a hurry to acquire an enviable decoration in order to please the world around them and celebrate life on the planet. No wonder the Date palm has always been the standard of beauty in the Middle East. Date palm will now wear such an outfit for one or two hundred years, if natural disasters and people do not interfere.
Year-round summer is pleasant not only for the Date palm, but also for many other plants. For example, not far from the slender trunk of a palm tree, you can see the lush Oleander bush, abundantly strewn with spectacular pink flowers. The magnificent sight is fraught with the insidious abilities of the plant. All parts of Oleander are saturated with glycosides, which in skilled hands turn into healing medicines, and in others - a source of danger to life. Even the water in which cut branches with flowers were placed to decorate a living room becomes poisonous. So beauty can be dangerous.
This cannot be said about the "standard of oriental beauty." The date palm can only become dangerous if the person who wants to enjoy the fruits directly from the tree climbs up the trunk without special devices and in a beach suit. At this point, the palm tree will show its oriental "taunts" for its disrespectful attitude.
The rest of the date palm can only be told in an enthusiastic rhythm. Its feathery leaves cover the roofs of local buildings, including beach fungi, so that European tourists can hide their pale skin in their shade, gradually increasing their tan. By the way, Hurghada has successfully overcome the crisis of lack of charter flights from our country. The hotels are completely filled with tourists from Western Europe. It is possible that now the rest in Egypt will cost (and already does) the Russians much more expensive than they were used to before the crisis, which is very insulting and sad. At the same time, the quality of service has noticeably decreased.
But, back to the Date Palm, which has nothing to do with crises in the human community, artificially created by people themselves. The date palm, like seven thousand years ago, and maybe more, just a modern man does not know about it, obligingly shares with man its leaves and the most useful fruits. Since good information is not a sin to repeat, I remind you that fructose contained in dates is easily absorbed by the human body, adding vitality to a person to overcome personal and social crises. Therefore, in order not to spoil your own teeth, when you want something sweet, replace sweets with dates.
