Your summer cottage will become more attractive without any extra effort. Are you interested? Then go ahead to grow strawberry spinach

“What is this schmid?” You ask. How? Have you heard of her? For starters, not schmida, but jminda or strawberry spinach.

It is a decorative plant densely covered with green leaves and red berries, the branches of which grow up to 50 centimeters. It is because of its unusual appearance that the people call the plant "strawberry spinach". Frankly, it is not entirely clear why strawberry, since the berries are very reminiscent of raspberries. And even the taste of jminda is far from strawberry. Rather, it resembles a mulberry. But people were not mistaken with spinach. Because the jminda is also from the swan family, and its leaves are as sour as those of spinach.

So, jminda should be on your site, not only because this is an unusual plant, it is also unpretentious. Firstly, the jminda will feel great both in a flower garden and in a garden bed or even in a container. Secondly, strawberry spinach is stronger than pests and is not at all afraid of them. Thirdly, the heat and bad ground are also not a hindrance.

Despite the fact that the jminda plant is unpretentious, you still need to take care of it.

Of course, it is necessary to weed the garden bed with the bush and sometimes loosen the ground. If it's dry outside, remember to water. In addition, it is better to tie up the branches of the plant so that they do not break under the load of berries. Also, if you do not want your entire site to be covered with jminda after some time, then you need to control the number of bushes.

It is noteworthy that the jminda is not only beautiful, but also useful. Strawberry spinach greens are added anywhere: in salads, soups, sandwiches. And this is even despite the fact that the leaves of the jmida do not have any pronounced taste. But the taste is sometimes not the most important thing, especially when the leaves are rich in proteins, fructose, sucrose, vitamins (C1, B1, B2). And they contain so much iron that apples and pomegranates will envy!

Jminda also uses berries. Juices, compotes, preserves - all this can be prepared from raspberry-like berries. By the way, it won't be difficult to find recipes.

Are you interested? Then we will tell you how to plant a jminda

In early spring, seeds are sown in three-centimeter holes. Before planting them, it is advisable to hold the seeds in a solution of potassium permanganate for about 20 minutes. Then we wait for the seeds to sprout. And a full-fledged stalk with leaves will appear (most likely there will be 2 of them). We leave the strongest, the rest can be transplanted to another place or destroyed. After two weeks, the plant can be fertilized either with a mullein, which must be diluted in water (1 to 5) or mineral fertilizers (30-40 kg of fertilizer per liter of water).

You are probably worried about the question of where to get the seeds? Now this plant is distributed by some producers as an exotic crop. Therefore, the cost is often exotic. But there is no other option other than buying seeds for the first time. But then you can get the seeds yourself.

This is very easy to do. You will need ripe berries, which you need to knead a little, and then pour water and leave them in a warm place for several days. When they become sour, you need to rinse the seeds and rid them of mucus. And then dry it. This can be done on special napkins to remove moisture or simply on paper, but always in a ventilated area. The seeds will dry out when they become free-flowing. Store them so that the seeds do not get wet. For this, jars or paper bags are suitable.

I don't know about you, but I went to look for seeds! Such a useful, beautiful and tasty plant should grow on my site.
