Sinningia beautiful belongs to the Gesneriaceae family. And, like many representatives of this family, it is distinguished by a bright flowering of a wide range of colors of rather large bell-shaped flowers. The leaves also have an attractive soft velvety decorative appearance. And if you have long dreamed of raising such a bright pet, then from November to April is just the most favorable time for the propagation of this indoor plant by seeds

Sowing seeds in a container

Immediately need to stipulate the conditions for a successful sowing. When it runs from November to January, the containers will need additional lighting. If this is not possible, then it is better to postpone sowing until February, when the daytime begins to gradually increase.

To protect crops from infection with diseases, they are carried into fresh soil, and the boxes are used new or well treated with disinfectant solutions. The container is filled with the substrate as follows:

• at the bottom arrange a layer of coniferous-deciduous mixture - 4 cm;

• a mixture of sifted earth with peat is laid on it - 2 cm.

The contents of the box are moistened and seeds are sown on top. They are very small in sinningia, so there is no need to cover them with another layer of earth. Instead, the crops are pressed with a suitable material, for example, an unnecessary cutting board.

Necessary conditions for seedling growth

So that the seedlings are not long in coming, they need to provide a moderately humid environment and a temperature of + 20 … + 22 ° С. Growing conditions in a greenhouse will be ideal. In the room, the box can be placed near the heating radiators. Top crops are covered with a sheet of glass.

Experienced flower growers also sow seeds on a layer of snow, lined in a box on the surface of the substrate. This will provide moisture with fresh melt water and will gradually suck the seeds into the soil as the snow melts.

Soil moistening is carried out by spraying from a spray bottle. The device must be adjusted so that the jet is not too strong, otherwise the seeds may be washed away to one edge of the box.

Seedling care

In the process of growth, synningia dive three times. The soil mixture is prepared from:

• humus - 4 parts;

• litter peat - 3 parts;

• turf land - 3 parts;

• chopped fallen leaves - 2 parts.

The nutrient mixture is fertilized with ammonium nitrate and magnesium sulfate - 0.5 g per 1 kg of substrate.

The first pick is carried out after the first true leaf develops. The planting scheme is 2x2 cm. From this moment, the temperature of the content is maintained at + 18 … + 20 ° С. Weakened plants are shaded from direct sunlight.

About 4 months after sowing, the sinningia will be ready to move the plants into individual pots. The transplant is done shallow. The formed tubers must be barely covered with earth.
