Beautiful bright inflorescences of cyclamens in stores involuntarily attract the attention of customers. Flower lovers bring plants to the house. After a while, the bushes that had time to fall in love die. Before buying a flower, you should familiarize yourself with the conditions of its life. Learn how to properly care for the plant

Types of cyclamen

2 types of cyclamen are grown in apartments:

• alpine (dryakva);

• Persian.

The first option is distinguished by small purple-burgundy inflorescences, similar to small moths. It has a very subtle, pleasant aroma that can be felt up close. It is unpretentious to conditions, grows well equally on the southern and northern windows. Tolerates heat, shading. Produces flower stalks from spring to autumn.

The second specimen is a cultural representative of the Persian cyclamen. Large inflorescences meet buyers with a bright variety of colors (two-color or monochromatic). Smooth or fringed buds are odorless. More capricious in hot apartments with central heating. It is sold in stores.

For a good wintering, "Persu" is kept at a low temperature of 10-12 degrees. On wooden double-glazed windows, the pots are placed in the interframe space. Outside, the temperature should not exceed minus 30 degrees. Windows with diffused light are suitable.

Seedlings of this species, grown from infancy, have a more flexible character. They adapt well to room conditions, they bring less trouble to their owners.

Seed reproduction

Preparing the soil in the summer. We mix leaf, turf, humus soil with sand in a ratio of 1: 2: 1: 1. Or we use purchased soil for cyclamens. We pour it into a spacious container 5-6 cm high. At the bottom we pierce the drainage holes.

At the beginning of September, we spread the seeds on the surface, leaving a distance of 3-4 cm. Lightly sprinkle with soil. Gently pour with potassium permanganate. We put it in a plastic bag. We put in the warmest place. The seeds do not need light during this period. We periodically check the soil for moisture. If necessary, spray from a spray bottle over the surface.

Seeds sprout for a long time. After 1, 5 months, the first seedlings appear, the last ones - within 3 months from sowing. We transfer the box to the windowsill, raise the shelter, gradually accustoming the plants to the conditions of the room. Bushes are freed from seed coats on their own. You should not interfere with this process so as not to damage the seedlings.

Plant development

After 2 months, a second leaf appears. After six months, a small tuber is formed, no more than a pea.

At the beginning of summer, a dormant period begins. The bushes are dropping their leaves. In early autumn, the nodules start to grow. By the end of September, two large new leaves are formed.

Cyclamen is transplanted in separate pots after a year. In winter, they quickly grow green mass. With the development of the volume of the earthen coma by the roots in March, the bushes are transferred into a container of a larger diameter. The first flower stalks appear in April. At the end of June, buds bloom on them. The first inflorescences are smaller than in adult specimens. Long bloom, about 2, 5 weeks.

In the second year, the plants do not shed their leaves. Their growth slows down until autumn. During this period, the bushes are taken out onto a glazed balcony or veranda. With the onset of cool weather, they return to the house.

The second wave of flowering begins. The buds are larger than the first, more in number. At the age of 3 years, the size of the nodule is 4 cm.

Care

A cool, sunny place is preferable for the "Persians". Shelves are suitable at a short distance from the windowsill. Water gently, trying not to hit the tuber. Waterlogging causes root rot.

They are fed in the fall, during the period of active growth, with fertilizer for indoor flowers. Gently loosen the soil.

In summer, plants do better in the garden or on the balcony.

When transplanting adult plants, the tuber is buried in half. The upper part remains on the surface.

Observing simple techniques, you can enjoy the lush flowering of the Persian cyclamen every year. Use seeds to increase the variety of colors in your collection.
