Comfortable movement around the summer cottage cannot be imagined without paved paths. To preserve the natural style, step paths are used. Let's talk about how to make the correct calculation, what material to choose, about the technology of laying
Benefits of step tracks
Designers always try to preserve the beauty of the landscape and suggest using step-by-step paving for auxiliary routes. This option allows you to create a harmony of plants and stone or other material from which such an object is made. There are many advantages to step-by-step tracks:
• do not disturb the layout of existing plants;
• laid out on any terrain and ground;
• water does not stagnate on the surface;
• do not require the creation of a capital foundation;
• several times cheaper than continuous pavement tracks.
What to make a track
Any material can be used for arranging step-by-step paths: natural / artificial stone, paving slabs, slate, limestone, the most durable are obtained from granite pieces. Many people prefer to use waste: bricks, pieces of concrete, tree cuts. It is important that the selected elements have a flat surface and are not too small.
Each detail should be slightly larger than the size of the foot, this will provide comfort when walking. Usually a width of at least 30 cm is used, and the length of the tiles is 40. The thickness of the stone cuts is more than 3 cm. The shape of the elements is chosen exclusively individually: oval, rectangle, square, any polyhedron. During installation, the parts are arranged with a shift or in a single line.
Subtleties of editing a step by step track
Having decided on the place, you need to make a preliminary marking. If there are many bends, it is advisable to lay out the guide border with flexible hose or tape. The next stage is unfolding along the entire length of the parts, according to the characteristics of the material and installation rules.
The created path can set the speed of movement. It depends on the distance at which the base elements are laid out. At an average pace and a normal pace of walking, an interval between the centers of the slabs of 75 cm is maintained. At a frequency of 60 cm, the movement will be slower, which is usually required for walking in those parts of the garden where you relax and admire the flower beds. Brisk walking is usually used on "runs" between major objects, so here you can increase the distance up to 90 cm.
Path of tiles
From sidewalk or homemade tiles, the path can be laid in different ways. We offer you to get acquainted with the two most common masonry methods.
A quick way to lay out paths on the lawn
The material is laid out according to the selected rate of movement and the distance between adjacent tiles is maintained accordingly. Measurement is always done from center to center.
After roughing, walk down the path. Perhaps in some places the step will go astray, and discomfort will be felt, then adjust the location of the parts. After this alignment for installation, mark / cut around each tile (with a knife, a shovel). Remove the covering elements, remove the soil layer (20-25 cm). Place a cushion of rubble and sand in the grooves. Place the removed tiles on the sand and water them to shrink. On sandy surfaces, a gravel pad is not made; installation is carried out directly on the sand.
Solid track
The second option for laying out involves preparing the base along the entire line of the track. This guarantees that the tiles will not "walk" and be pulled into the ground. In this case, the gaps are made out by grass or ornamental plants: caustic sedum, Pozharsky bell, white sedum. Niches filled with multi-colored granules and pebbles look good.
Step-by-step path from saw cuts
This option is popular with connoisseurs of natural originality. This is a spectacular path made of wooden cuts. The best material is considered to be voluminous logs, from which cuts of 30-40 cm will be obtained. The height of the dies should be 10-15 cm. It is more convenient to work with a chain saw.
The installation process consists of careful preparation of the entire contour of the track - this is the removal of soil (20 cm), laying out the bottom of the recess with geotextiles. After this, it is necessary to backfill the trench with sand. Next, the installation of the dies, impregnated with any composition from decay and mold, begins, possibly coating with wax-based paint.
In the process of laying out, each of them is pressed tightly into the sand. This procedure is best done with a special rubber mallet. Treatment of saw cuts with an antiseptic helps to extend the durability of such a coating. Experts recommend impregnation twice a year.
